Spent first night in a floor less shelter!

Good luck brother! If ya'll hear screaming and yelling at 10,000ft in the middle of the wilderness then you know it didn't go to well!

I slept under a tarp this last weekend in a local wilderness. The tarp worked, but there were tons of carpenter ants crawling all over me all night long. That got old very quickly. I think I will be going to a tent with a floor in the future.

Ants definitely suck. Got tore up by fire ants duck hunting this last season....still have the scars. At times having a floor and nest are the only way to go but if I can, floor less is my preferred method.

So this could be a two part thread, first has anyone ever had any critters come under there shelter in the middle of the night?
Second would be how much money has rokslide cost you!!!!?
So I am not new to rokslide maybe a year or so now but it has cost me a lot, nomad, hoyt fackor, Mountain smith LT, black diamond carbon poles, BA q core pad, expend pillow and an EE quilt. Those are the things I remember off hand, sure there has been more!!
So last night I had my nephews over, four boys total from 7 months to 6 years for a family camp out, thinking it would be a great time to try out some gear for an up coming hunt. Long story short in the middle off the night I felt something rub my leg, freaked me out! It was the wife's cat, holy chit!!! And yes an EE quilt in 10* will sweet You out when it's 60 at night:)

I am glad you like the quilt JB. A little off topic but I sent my Mountainsmith off for a stove jack and ordered a stove for it.

I've had mice issues when camped at a horsey camp. I've never had any issues though once I moved away from established back country camps. Other than my dog losing her mind when an elk herd moves through the area.

Floorless tarptent (GoLite Shangri-La 2), EE 20* prodigy quilt, and a borah bug bivy!

Chipmunks and mice are about it but they usually leave as quick as they come. Believe Ryan Avery had a bear stick its nose under his a year or two ago.

Just did 10 days in floorless. Golite sl5 and Hilleberg Nallo without inner tents. Light way to go and easy sleeping.

Used floorless for years. No problems with water, bugs, or things that go bump in the night. Majority of my camping is in colorado

I think that's one of the beauty's of the fly set ups for a lot of tents. My BA will do it, but I haven't tried yet. Takes the weight and bulk down to nada.
