Looking for a Very lightweight 243 or 6mm arc backpacking bolt gun for when I am scouting for my deer and elk hunts in Arizona. I will also use it sometimes to call coyotes. I want it 5.5lbs or lighter, preferably under 5lbs. I am aware of the Tikka superlite and Ruger American at 6lbs. I would like to be lighter. I will put a Accupoint 3-9 scope on it at 13oz. Right now I am considering a Gen 2 Howa Superlite in 243 or the new Howa Carbon Elevate in 6mm arc. Wondering if I have missed another option. I love all the ammo choices in 243 and I have a AR15 in 6mm arc so I could consolidate ammo since that shoots ELDX 103gr. I will shoot supressed with a 10oz Dead Air Nomad TI. Thank you for the input.

A few kimbers, Sako 90 peak, weatherby Capra, proof glacier ti, Christensen Ridgeline FFT
The Ridgeline FFT checks a lot of boxes, I just can’t live with the bolt not locking while on safety. If the bolt gets bumped while hiking it can fall out easily.

mines in 22 arc but i went with a howa mini action, a prefered barrel from @hereinaz and a blem carbon barrel from stockys. All in under a grand. Topped it with a VX2 ultralight and im right at 6 lbs. 6 lb 4 oz with a full mag and the scope cover. Could get under 6 with some fluting and a replacement bottom metal. Thing is a hammer and has rapidly become my favorite rifle

Nice, I hear mixed reviews on the Stockys stocks.

i really like mine. had to hog out some material from the barrel channel which i knew i would, and take a bit of steel wool and add some paint to the clear (theyre really high gloss) but aside from that its been solid. youll hear no complaints from me, some bedding might not go amiss but i havent had much call to do so, the rifles stacking 77 tmks into a knot hole. moreover though where else you getting a carbon stock for 196 dollars shipped?
