Not really, and I'll tell you why - book numbers and factory box numbers are generally created with 24" barrels. I don't have any rifles with 24" barrels. Most of mine are 20" barrels. But with some loads, I can get close to those numbers, even with a 20" barrel. Usually, I end up 40-80 fps. slower than whatever is on the box or the reloading data however, and I'm fine with that. This is a rookie questions but is there a general rule for the speed improvement over factory loads you can expect from working up a custom load? Such as “with a proper worked up load you can safely expect 10% gain in speed”.
This assumes the goal is safe improvement of speed with the same bullet. Some sacrifice of barrow life would be acceptable. I’m sure there are a bunch of other caveats / assumptions I’m not including - asking for grace ahead of time.

I reload so I can shoot more for the same $ and so I don't have to turn into a Karen when there are ammo shortages on the shelves. The more I shoot, the more confidence I'll have in my rig and the better I'll be in the field when the heart is racing. At least, that's how I see it.
