I was planning to purchase the Spartan 300 but it appears to have recently increased in price. (Now $561). So I started looking at the Javelin standard. After a quick rokslide search, I only found a difference in the locking mechanism for cant. Can anyone elaborate on the differences between the two?

So, self serving, I have a brand new Spartan 300 for sale in the classifieds here, never used.

Differences:

Spartan 300 folds up on the gun, forward or rearward, javelin does not and needs to be removed when not in use.

Spartan 300 does not have adjustable cant, but the tension is pretty perfect. Javelin has a lever or knob. To be honest, I prefer the Spartan design here - more streamlined as the "housing" at the top is more low profile.

Spartan 300 you cannot lock left / right panning, you can with the Javelin by pulling it out of the mount, turning 180 degrees and re-inserting. I think this is the main benefit to the Javelin IMO along with the price.
