I talked to the owner of Spartan and also emailed a few times requesting an adapter for an ARCA rail over the last year. Spartan said it was in the works. Happy to see that it was released today. Ordered a pair. The design looks compact. I can eliminate the bulky multi adapter I have been using.

Also placed an order, had messaged Rob Gearring a couple weeks ago and they were already a step ahead. This adapter is a fairly significant factor in my decision to give the spartan tripod a try as well, really pulls it all together for me as I have a couple chassis rifles.

Let me know how the tripod works if you go in that direction. I purchased the bipod just to try it out not thinking it was going to be a permanent accessory I use. It has become my go to now.

You planning to use them as trekking poles as well?

I will try and update after some first impressions and moderate use, probably won’t truly run it through its paces until august though on a sheep hunt. I am a little hesitant to use the legs as trekking poles, if one breaks then I am out two pretty important pieces. I know they advertise they are field reparable to an extent and if they turn out to be outstandingly durable I probably would use one leg as a trekking pole and still bring my nz mtn gear stick as well.

Yes definitely nice to finally see this plate adapter. Would be great if they would tighten up tolerances in the adapter one of these days as well.

As far as the bipod and machining tolerances into the adapter?

I will be received my adapters today. Great Britain to Oregon in 3 days. WTH. Will play with them tonight.

I think shipping was $14-15.00. A bit shocked.....cant ship from midway for less than that and takes twice as long. Anyway thx Spartan for getting them out so quickly. Wow.IMG_4909.jpg

Yeah there is a small amount of play in the interface between male/female. It is negligible but you can still feel it. Still the best UL bipod interface imho. I recently read a post of a guy who actually bedded the male end with Jb weld to take the play out which I will be trying on my older model. I did get my arca adapter yesterday and it was incredibly fast (like direct flight to my tiny town in Idaho fast;-) and fwiw the new plate does seem like it has a little tighter tolerance compared to the adapters on my other rifles👍 stoked to have this arca adapter for my chassis. The pro model is worth the extra cheddar if you didn’t know already.

I received the new Arca adapter. It seems well built and will work exactly as described.
I would like to see two improvements. I feel like you could shave some weight and make the opening wide enough to fit over the Arca rail without having to slide it over the end.
Maybe have this version and a lightweight version.
The oz counters will look for other options.

I am new to the bipod world, and can't seem to find out what is the reason for the arca adaptor in the bipod system. It isn't lightweight, the Arca weighs 2.9 ox to the M-Lock adaptor weighing less than an ounce.

I am clearly missing some functionality of the ARCA setup, and since I'm about ready to buy a Spartan, could sure use the insight and advice as to one of these over the other.

Thanks for you time.

Advantage is the quick and unlimited adjustment of the arca. It (unknowingly at the time) has been a benefit as I would have had a clearance issue with what I am running on my rifle.

I went with the Arca setup so that I can have a secure attachment of my binoculars, spotter and rifle all on the same type of connection. For my rifle I went with the full length Arca plate because it gives me 9” of adjustability on my tripod and also on my bipod.
Most bipod attachments are fixed to one point on the rifle. In the mountains and on steeps slopes with limited room to get into position, adjustability is important to me.
I thought about putting an Arca plate on my rifle and also adding the spartan gunsmith adapter (<1oz) but I wanted the adjustment of the Arca adapter (3oz). The weight penalty is worth it for me. I may never need it, but in theory it seems like a good idea.
I would bet a lighter version of the same type of product will be on the market soon. This particular one feels overbuilt to me. But it’s the only one of its kind right now.
