Spare Headlamp?

I carry a smaller headlamp but not because I expect my primary to fail. I hunt until last light and having a 2nd light to hang in the tree next to my dead animal makes it much easier to find or to bring my friend(s) in to help.

I carry a glow stick for such a purpose

I always have 3 on me. One on my head and two cheapos in my pack. I’ll gladly carry a couple ounces extra in case something happens.

I carry a backup coast headlamp. It’s never fun when you have to hike out in the dark 😭

lighted arrow nock on a short piece of cordage....

At least 2, sometimes 3. Plus batteries. I like to leave a light at the kill site when I'm shuttling meat to stay it away from bear

I do, and still managed to screw it up one hunt. Forgot my main headlamp at the truck. No biggie, I had a backup, Petzl Bindi. First night, pull it out and its dead. No biggie, I've got a power bank with plenty of juice, its rechargeable. Plug it in, nothing. Not sure what it was, I've charged it at home no problem, I tested the cable and power bank and it would charge my inreach, but wouldn't do anything to the Petzl.

I ended up using my buddies backup, an old petzl tikka, and it was almost useless, especially at dawn and dusk when its not totally pitch black, but you still can't see anything.

This year i picked up a couple of nitecore nu20 classics. Weighs the same or less as a lot of other headlamps for both of them, and they're bright enough to be a primary. I dont want to rely on an e-lite or my cell phone in steep grizzly country.
