Hey Guys,

So, last year I ventured into archery for the first time by picking up a lightly used Left- Handed APA M7 all set up and ready to go. I wasn't sold on all the accessories and stuff, but figured I'd shoot it a while and make a decision actually based on a little experience. I love the bow and I've really, really enjoyed shooting it and learning the form and techniques that accurate archery requires. Way more fun than I ever thought it'd be and very addictive! I'll probably be in big trouble once an animal actually bites the dust... :)

Anyways. It came with a basic Trophy Taker drop-away, not sure the model? A HHA Optimizer Lite Ultra and a APA two piece quiver.

For me, the jury is still out on the single pin. None of my buddies use them, but I think I'm gonna stick with it for this season. I like the clean, uncluttered view. However, I do not like how it gets in the way of the current 5 arrow quiver. It can only hold 3 arrows with the big HHA in the way. This got me looking for quiver options and liking the TiteSpot quivers. The idea of a lighter quiver, relocating it and getting it closer to the bow seems good to me? Are the TiteSpots lefty compatible and worth the money? Any other suggestions?

As for the drop-away. The current TT works ok, but I find it kinda loud with an arrow in it and at the shot. I'd like a better, full-containment for those reasons and thought I'd settled on the Trophy Taker Smack Down Pro, but come to find out, it's not available in left-handed versions. Any suggestions for a lefty compatible drop away, as good or better than the Pro? Please? :)

Thanks for any advice.

I'm a lefty so I'll throw in my .02 I think Tightspots are a great quiver and they do come in a LH version, but it's lh specific so don't just buy any Tightspot you get a deal on make sure it's a lefty.

I though the TT smack down pro was available LH? I know the older smack down was made in LH and I thought they came out with a lefty pro it was just a few months behind the RH version.

Haha! I guess I should not necessarily believe the guys at the bigbox stores. Checked TT's website, and they do indeed have a LH version. What do you use, ckleeves? Any other, better LH options out there?

Thanks for your input on the LH Titespot. Appreciate it!

No problem. I have an extra lefty Tightspot let me see if I can dig it up if your interested? Right now I'm using a Limbdriver Pro V. Pretty happy with it since they came out with the tougher cage. I have tried quite a few different rest and still like the Pro V but a few of my buddies have smack downs and they are a very solid rest.

You may have difficulty mounting the Tightspot to your current HHA. It doesn't offer too many options for mounting a sight mounted quiver bracket. Not to mention the problem with getting to your sight adjustment knob.

Hhmmm, I was wondering about that, but was hoping not. Perhaps the sight will have to go too...

HHAs suck when it comes to mounting a quiver on them... Tightspot makes an adapter that will allow you to mount their quiver on an HHA sight. Trophy Taker does make left hand rests, 99% of the time you can't believe anything you hear at a box store.

Thnx again guys! I appreciate your input. Think I'm going to run the bow as is this year and hopefully switch everything out over the winter. Pretty much settled on the Tightspot, just have to decide on a new rest and sight... :)

Love my lefty tightspot
Not a fan of the HHA
Love my limbdriver pro v

Other sights I would consider are the MBG Ascent, CBE and Sword

I like a few fixed pins and the ability to adjust the entire head

Tightspot makes a good quiver. My QAD HD rest has treated me very well, as well as my Sword 3rd Plane sight.
None of my local shops keeps anything left handed in, and a few just tell me they can't get them...so I generally buy online and install my own.

Thnx guys, for all the info and advice.

I stopped by the local proshop today and got a new rest. My old one was giving some issues with fletching contact (?). I ended up with a black LH QAD HDX. That's what they recommended for my bow and it does seem nice, super smooth, to this greenhorn. :) Hopefully I'll never need it, but having local support's always good...

Other than that, I've pretty much decided to strip it all down to bare bow and start over. After this season!

I've just got to settle on a good, compact single pin and it'll be all good! This archery thing is super addictive...

Here's my .02 cents on sights and rests....HHA sights are on the very bottom of my list, I know a lot of people like them but for me they offer nothing that I'm impressed with and I've never understood why guys get fighting mad in defense of their sights...I've always said if HHA's were $75 to $90 sights they would be a good buy, but most of their lineup these days are pushing the $200 range and I don't get it....They have NO axis adjustments without buying little bolt on pieces, that to me just add a weak link in the overall build of the sight, they don't have an adjustable bubble level, you can't adjust the overall length of the sight and they are a bitch to use with a bow mounted quiver. They offer no more features than sights like a Cobra single pin slider and you can dig around and find those for less than $100 all day long.
As far as rests go, I feel the same with about QAD rests as I do HHA sights....Sorry, cause I know a lot of guys like them. I've literally set up hundreds of fall away rests over the years and 99% of them have been great, the only rests I've had more than 1 issue with have been QADs. I do like the looks of them and the lock up features BUT I've had more than 1 of them fail on me and not drop at the shot over the years...I finally got to the point where I said I wouldn't shoot a QAD on my hunting bows if they gave me the rests for free. Shots on animals are to limited for me not to trust that my rest will work every time I draw my bow back. I shot Ripcords for years with good luck but when they came out with the Code Red I had one of them act up and not fall every shot "If I shot 20 arrows on average 1 or 2 of those shots would end up with the rest not falling" so I gave up on them...I've killed more animals with rests that didn't "lock up" than I ever have with them so to me it's not a MUST HAVE feature. These days I only shoot limb driven rests, normally either the Hamskea Versa Rest or the Trophy Taker Smackdown Pro, those are my go to rests these days for hunting & target bows. There are way to many good options on the market these days for me to use products that I don't have 110% of faith in when I head into the woods.
