South Carolina creek fishing

As for a kayak Facebook marketplace and Craig’s List are your friends. Plenty of decent deals. Moving water with oyster beds are the place to start. Saltwater fish like reds and trout move constantly. Inland salt creeks are already too warm to hold much.

Yeah I found that one out yesterday after casting for about 4 hours and only saw a few mud minnows hahah at least my casting got better... right?

The red in the other posters avatar is about as big as you can expect to catch inshore. About 29”-32” is max before they go offshore. Big reds will come into the passes to spawn but that’s it. From now to the end of September fishing dawn to about 9am is your best bet.

Is it just to warm for them to really get into the shallow waters I’m guessing?

Yes , the black bottom with shallow water and scorching hot sun in the creeks and flats make the water very warm and low in oxygen.

That’s good to know, going to try and hit the local dock tonight around 7. Thank you for all the tips!
