Source for practice ammo and best suggestion for reloadable hulls?

In your op you said, "a few hundred or more or year". Do you mean shooting that many? If so, just buy a case of shell and shoot.

If you are saying you just need a couple of hundred hulls, I will mail you 200 tapered hulls for the cost of shipping. I will send you some wads to, both 1 oz and 1 1/8 oz so you can figure out what you need and order more.

Grabbed 250 of these. Also found Trap/Skeet club in my area that allows Public shooting for a fee. Advertises lessons and gun rental. I am well on my way to better Shotgunning (I hope....I can't get much more pathetic)

RE: Loading

Been a LONG time precision rifle loader. And for my revolvers too.

Guess I simply want the ability to load my own ammo. I don't want to go TOO far down the rabbit hole. As the post above....I bought 250 AA loads. If I latch on and enjoy it and begin shooting more, I will buy more. I will save my hulls and stockpile them and hopefully load them.

And the question on Bismuth and game loads....I would also like to be able to load my own Field/Upland loads.

Kinda realize it will probably not be with the same AA hulls.

But I do enjoy the reloading process. And hate to throw shit away that is reusable.

I have several pounds of Unique for revolvers. Be a bonus if I could find load data for AAs and Target loads.

You will be able to use the AA hulls and unique for both target and hunting loads.

For load data check the powder manufacturer websites. Stick to published loads. There are no pressure signs in shotshell loading until you are way further over pressure than you want to be.

Cheddite primers look to be in stock. These replicate 209s and are serviceable?

Wads....seems both the Hull and Wad are the key components in the load? There is a metric shit ton of wads for selection. Is there a general "most popular" for Target loads? Windjammer

Cheddite 209 work. I load a lot of them. In general it is not advisable to switch around primers in shotshell loads the same way you do in metallic loading. That said people generally consider the Cheddite about the same "hotness" as the winchester 209.

The only issue with the Cheddite is some people get primer piercing on the bottom barrel of brownings. I have not had that problem.

With primers there is a European "size" and American size. It is actually that there is less taper in the European primers so the American primers can want to fall out of a hull that previously had the European primers in it. Cheddite are normally thought of as closer to the American size than the other European manufacturers.

For wads, claybuster are the most popular because they are generally cheapest. For starting out, just find load data for your other components and buy the wad that matches.

I would start with finding a hull either AA-HS or Remington. Then select payload. 7/8, 1 or 1-1/8. Next find a powder you can get. Clays, red dot, promo, clay dot, etc. Look that up and figure out which wad works with that combination. For those two hulls there are 3 sizes of wads. Downrange, claybuster, Winchester all make wads in those three sizes.

I found I got better crimps if I went up on the wad for the AA-ha hulls vs Remington. What I mean is if I was loading 7/8 oz I would use a 1 oz wad for AA-HS or a 7/8 for the Remington. The 1 oz wad is shorter and fits better imho due to the AA-hs being different than the original one pc AA hulls. If shooting 1 oz then use the 1 1/8 oz wad.
