SOS on IPhone

I used a Garmin Inreach in CO this year, but I’ve also noticed my IPhone 13 now seems to have SOS capabilities. Has anyone had experience with using SOS on the iPhone or heard others’ experiences?

I have Base Map on my android and have the SOS ability in my subscription.

I watched a youtube video on it, sounds like its functional but not quite there yet. Tried to find the video but there's quite a few of them now and I don't remember which one it was.
His main complaint was speed and signal strength on the iphone v.s. the inreach. Sounds like it would get it done......... but they weren't equal.
