yeah me too, pain in the a$$

enter the gadget that lets you fill partially filled canisters from other partially filled canisters- letting you have fully filled (or otherwise) canisters

simply put the canister you want to fill in the freezer for 20-30 minutes, pick which canister is going donate fuel and voila!

this is just a sample of the ones I have (have a bunch of 8 oz ones too) :D

I went from about 25 partially filled canisters (4 and 8 oz ones) to 7 :D

also if you notice that the larger canisters (8 & 16 oz) are cheaper per ounce than the small 4 oz ones, buy a big one and fill from it

There was a discussion on this a couple years back, or maybe a podcast? I think I remember there's a possibility of overfilling and creating a dangerous situation, so you need to weigh a full container of the exact same make/model so you know how full to let it get (fill to the same weight)

I want to say there was a photo of one looking swelled up like a grenade ready to go off, but maybe that was just what I'm picturing...

Still have one of these in one of my gear tubs, haven't used it though.

Be careful with this everyone!! Do it outside. I’ve been to some explosions where people were making butane hash oil and butane gas filled the room without warning. It’s very very dangerous with butane, but I realize these aren’t the same thing either.

I could be way off on this, but definitely is worth the precaution of doing this outdoors.

Playing with pressurized canisters of highly flammable gases seems like a bad idea all the way around. I'll just carry two canisters and switch them out. Seems pretty easy and not something to risk life or limb over.

I had a friend loose some eyebrows with a canister/stove explode in his face. Very dangerous.

Good luck kids!!

Following along this thread, looks intriguing just a little concerned about possible safety issues. But like anything I’m sure if done right there’s no worries...

I've never used these type canisters before but do plan on getting a windburner to use. Do they not have an pressure relief on the can like the green ones for lantern's?

Where are you located? Scheels and REI have plenty here in KC.

Central Oregon
My lady found a couple of the bigger ones but the 3 or 4 stores we normally get the 100 gram ones at have been out since the rona rush.
Mountain house is back on shelves.
I have a few and can surely get thru my season but its starting to make me a little nervous.
Most of the places online that have them in stock and will ship have double or triple the price.
