I know someone that did, intentionally instead of taking a sleeping bag. He said, never again he was cold uncomfortable and didn't really get any sleep.

Why, you can get lightweight sleeping bags that weight 1.5 lbs? My montbell ul ss#3 packs down super small and is very comfortable.

i have one. yet to use it. i also have a mountain laurel designs bivy that weighs less and has more capabilities, bug netting over head and a line that pulls the netting away from face if needed, or just lay in it like the sol. bugs are gnarly this year so just a thought, good luck.

Because it's there.......

My quilt is 22oz. Light is light, but there's always lighter. And you know how this shit goes.

hooo wait...if you want to use it without a sleeping bag...no way man youll freeze like shit...i done the test 2 years ago...i forget my sleeping bag...the most stupid thing i done in the wild...i just put a tarp on the groud and this bivy...i think i still have a picture of this trip...i was in my 4 man tipi with a stove...in the night i run out of woods plus 2 inches of snow the morning...me and my dog will remember this trip forever haha!!!

this bivy is good with a sleeping bag maybe a little bit tight at the feet.
