Not like I "need" another rifle, but hey, the appropriate number to own= N+1

This would be a lightweight setup. Looking at the following in 6.5 CM:

1. Barrett Fieldcraft
2. Proof Elevation
3. Seekins Element

Probably cant go wrong with any of them! Most likely use a can on it, and something like a NX8 or Leupold Mark 5 for optics

First off, although that is what I would go with but you didn’t ask about the prc so we’ll stick with the CM.
You’d have to find a used fieldcraft.
I really like everything about the Seekins rifles. I just can’t get past that spiral fluted barrel.
So I guess I’d end up with the proof.
But that’s my thinking.

Any of the 3 would be a great choice.

I personally would take #3 and send that action off to cerekote the barrel black immediately.

It is lighter than #2 by over a pound if I recall. The stock on the seekins will be much more comfortable shooting prone off a bipod if are looking to do that. I think the havak element gives you more versatility and options if you don’t just want a pure hunting gun.

I agree with the others above. If you plan on hunting with this a lot and it’s not just a range toy, look at a PRC or bigger. I have a creedmoor and have killed a handful of animals with it. But a gun like you’re talking about means you’ll be backpacking or hiking way off a road, you’ll appreciate more horsepower when you’re put in a comprising position or have an animal in-front of you that you worked so hard to get to.

#2 does have a nice action and proof barrels speak for themselves. I also think that big horn action they use will take the pre-fits, so you can change calibers down the road easily. The stock design just isn’t what I like, but for you those other things could be more important.

None of the above. With that kind of money, you could build custom, or real close to it.
It’ll take a few more bucks, but yeah you’re not too far off from building one with a budget action and steel barrel. If you go down the ultra light path with titanium and carbon you’ll be +$1k or more depending on components.

But good call out to think about building what you want.

Thanks for the replies!

I should have said that I have a Seekins PH2 in 6.5 PRC sitting waiting to be coated. Couldn't stand looking at the barrel :)

While the Seekins is pretty light, haven't scoped it or put it on a scale, this would be more of a lighter gun.

I know, first world problems :)

I hear ya...

Since you have the PRC then man I’d look at the 6creed chambering. I have a 6.5-284 and then added a 6.5 creedmoor and I really now wish I had gone with a 6 creed for antelope, doe hunts, coyotes, and then would be a great range toy.

Having been there done that when I have hunted with my 6.5 creedmoor, you’re going to like thwacking animals with that PRC more than the smaller round....at least that’s what I’ve found in my experience.

Proof elevation is probably the nicest barreled action but the stock they put on it sucks and because of that it would be my last choice.

There have been some Barret 6.5s in the classifieds here recently, I would lean that way but the seekins elevation looks nice too.

Get the Seekins Element, 6 or 6.5 creed,
since you already have a 6.5.
I have one in 6.5 PRC topped with NX8,
& really happy with it.
Hope to have my Jäger Suppressor soon.
Great list of top quality components, & quality manufacturing, warranty, & service.

As a suppressor host I'd get a Fieldcraft every time. The 18" threaded version is basically the perfect suppressor host, I have one. It's a $3000 rifle that costs under $2000. I've had quite a few high end rifles and customs (still do), the Fieldcraft continues to impress me though.
