Snowtrekker tents

Anyone use one of these? I am considering buying the 13’x13’ mega crew. I’m also looking at the wilderness trail llama divide series tent. Any feedback back is appreciated.

Durability, wind stability, ventilation and anything you didn’t like about it. I am really wondering what the difference between the Snowtrekker and the divide tent are because of the price difference.

I dont have enough use to say what long term durability would be like, it is 7 oz canvas so you would think it wouldn't be quite as tough as a traditional 10 or 12oz tent. There was nothing I didn't like about it. The Divide series tents have a slightly different frame connection, they come with all the stakes, they come with the floor and a stove jack cover.

Snowtrekkers are awesome! I've had mine since 2016 and my friend has had his since 2013. They stand the test of time. They have been good about bucking the wind but I've had mine blow down from 60+ winds coming off the Rockies. Some spots just aren't a good place to set camp but you don't have a choice.
The set up is fast (maybe 20 min) with the A frame design and they are super light weight with the 7 oz canvas so putting them on a pack animal isn't an issue.
I would recommend a "fly" mainly for heat retention and to keep the tent dryer in snowy/rainy conditions. I don't have a lot of room to fully dry my tent after a wet use.
The OG Snowtrekker tents have a stove pipe that comes out of the tent at an angle so you'd have to cut poles or bring two poles to brace that pipe.
The Divide series tents were designed to be packed on animals so more thought has been put into weight distribution of the tent body and poles.
They have added a lot of options now too like the window and screen door which would help during the 90 degree September openers I've had. Even without those options it's not bad in the heat, just try to pitch in the shade.
I've used this tent for spring fishing trips, skiing trips, hunting, climbing, and just to spend time with a fire. It's my portable cabin.

If I were to do it again I would positively buy another Snowtrekker.

What size do you have? Looking at tents like this too, and trying to find the right balance between size - not overkill for a couple of guys, and not too crowded with 3 or 4 when the time calls.

You could do 4 on cots with a stove but it wouldn't leave much if any room for a kitchen area in a 13x13. The price and weight penalty between the 13x13 and 13x15 is pretty minimal, so going bigger of youre on the fence between sizes wouldn't be an issue

• Velcro on door (so can add mosquito or clear door)
• Lightweight floor
• Extra coating on tents
• Storage bag
• Shipping
• Shorter poles (22” v 28”)
• Guy ropes,
• Pole Unions lighter
• Bigger sod cloth

I have a 10X11 'wall" style. They don't make them but I can fit 2 super comfortably with stove and chuck box. 3 wouldn't be too much of a problem to fit but I would probably take out the chuck box.

Yes. I think I wrote it down accurately, but apologize if not. Definitely would need to check with Beau. He was great and I'd love to give him the business as long as the price difference with the Snowtrekker is fair.

I didn't ask but am very curious what difference the extra coating on the canvas does. If it helps reduce the need of a fly when not getting big rains, that would have real value. Also, the ground cloth is notably lighter than the Snowtrekker ground cloths, so it's hard to assign a clear value to this. It'd be very nice to use this in summer as they seem not that different in setup time than a dome tent.

To make my decision between the two I tried to put a dollar figure to these to be objective in my decision.

Again, I'd confirm all this with Beau.

I will buy one one of the WRTL or Snowtrekker but need to sell my Outdoors RV trailer first. Winter is a little slow for moving one in Montana.

Heavily leaning to the Boondock size based on Beau as well as the experience of guys on here, but the Continental size is tempting, just to have the extra room for gear in wet weather. Been crunching numbers for pack weights when have 1 pack mule to see if the extra 6.5lbs makes sense for the amount of times I'd actually use the extra space.

Ideally, I'd like it to be my summer tent too, with the quick setup time. A big dome tent is still 20+ lbs and probably similar setup time, so hoping this can be one size fits all in the backcountry when I've got a pack animal. Already have my very light backpack tent or tarp option.

Thanks guys for sharing actual experiences as it's clearly a big purchase we just would like to do once.

Do you pack it in with animals or has it always been a base camp by the truck?

If you had to do it again, would you stick with the 11x11 size or go for a 13x13?

Don't have stock. If I did I'd get something smaller made by Snowtrekker. I have a pack Tundra that works well.
I do like the size as most times I'm using it solo and would likely get a similar size or smaller, just depends on your individual usage. I thought I'd be hosting more guests but I'm not. It's a very comfortable size with 2 people.
