Went scouting south of Bozeman with some friends this weekend and had a good amount of snow to navigate. Anybody else get some snow this weekend? Might be a interesting hunting season....

Ya I'm sure, I've been fishing in Dubois a few times in the fall and had some very crisp days. I wish I would have brought my stove with me this weekend cause it was cold and nobody really planned for snow just rain. But I can't remember any time there was that much snow in the hills in August, definitely made for a interesting weekend.

FUNNY! I just posted about this in another thread! I was like WTF? Did this just happen? I was busy the last few days packing and did not have a chance to glance up at the mountains surrounding Bozeman.

I am new to MT, as of last Jan. Is this non typical weather? Anyone thinking it might be an early winter? I have already noticed all the Robins are gone around my house, and the black birds are grouping up...

Is it normal? No. Is it abnormanl? Not really. Sometimes it snows late August. I've watched it snow every month out of the year. Once on the 4th of July, but that is really abnormal. Most times IF it snows in August its more Labor day. It'll get warm again in the next few days and you'll forget it happened. I think I heard 80's again here pretty quick.

Ya agree it's not abnormal, I've seen some light snow but there's a few spots up there that I think will have snow there until next summer, it dumped a decent amount for August. I personally think will have a early and long winter but I don't know. Needless to say I'm jacked for archery season, especially if that kind of weather happens mid to late September.

I was up near big sky this weekend and it was stuck in the clouds for most if the weekend! Saw hail out our elevation but was thinking it was snowing a bit higher. I need to get back and hunt around Bozeman soon!

Talked to a buddy in Sheridan last night. Bighorns got 5-6 inches. Don't think Gillette got any. Temps in Sheridan have been low 60's during the day and low 40's at night.

Supposed to start warming up again day after tomorrow. Calling for mid to high 80's across the region.

I live in Pinedale WY and we got some snow on the mountains now. We will see how much is around when i head up on friday for Archery.

I drove from Helena to Miles City on Monday. The Elkhorns, highest peaks in the Big Belts, Bridgers, Castle Mtns., and Crazies all had snow. I should have but didn't notice the Little Belts or Snowies. I suspect most of it will be gone by the time I drive back tomorrow and all of it gone by this weekend, but it may quickly return.

Saw snow on the mountains at work a couple days ago, as well as in mid July. I love cool mornings. Gets me excited for the fall.

Got into 4-6 inches in the upper elevations of the little belts yesterday. Half an inch or so on kings hill on sunday when I went to white sulphur for some antelope hunting. It didnt stop raining for 3 days in neihart straight and belt creek seemed higher than run off! Stalking lopes in the rain and wind is not fun either haha

You living in Neihart now?

Yup, some here in the Colorado high country as well. I'll find out how bad when I'm hiking in above tree line Friday morning. Best of luck to all you fellas (and of course ladies), it's gonna be a great year!
