I’ve heard that some birds are hitting north dakota, any reports on what you guys have seen?

Hunted the last two days on the nd/sd border. Lots of adult birds had 1400 decoys out and in the field they were feeding in and they wanted no part of it. These adult birds are assholes.
Tip for killing birds in SD. North wind days with sun. Get your spread on the edge of water. South wind days are for bird watching; you might catch an occasional tired flock of migrators in the afternoon or right at sundown. The birds still push on N wind days, get tired faster, and make smaller more frequent flights/rests. Chasing feeds has proven very tough this spring in SD.
Got back from MO...tough hunting. Got migrating Juvies to play but lack of wind in the morning and evening killed us the first 2 days. day 3 little to no birds then started raining so we bailed. looking forward to getting after them in two or 3 weeks in ND. I will say when the wind was moving any birds that came over worked really well coming down from the stratosphere well and finished decently.I’ve heard that some birds are hitting north dakota, any reports on what you guys have seen?

I think 2-3 weeks will be hitting it right if no more major fronts move through. Still small flights of Juvies coming out of ILL and south. Didn't lose a lot of birds from Squaw Creek while we were down there and there were 400,000+.
FYI, Sunny north or south wind migration days are fun when they come from way way up....however, I have easily had my best shoots in windy cloudy or foggy weather sitting close to the roost (sometime within 1/2 mile in the same field). They don't want to fly far and are normally on the deck and can't look over the decoys well.
As of Yesterday zero birds where I hunt we will just say in between devils lake and the SD boarder. That is from first hand friend visual report that was ice fishing for 3 days straight and is a big hunter. Canadas just got there on Friday. Snows are normally a week behind the Canadas from experience. I would say there will be a push late this week into the weekend then a steady stream for a couple weeks. The giant masses may be Devils lake area in a week week and a half but should be plenty of birds through 2nd week of April IMO. And as I stated before if you put the miles on there are always hauntable groups around till end of season. May only be 1,000 or so on a roost but they are young and dumb and normally more patternable.Weather in North Dakota looks steady in the 50s during the day and mid to low 30s over night in the long term forecast if that means anything

Blue sky migrators coming might be the prettiest sight in waterfowl. But bad weather on feeding birds is tough to beat too.FYI, Sunny north or south wind migration days are fun when they come from way way up....however, I have easily had my best shoots in windy cloudy or foggy weather sitting close to the roost (sometime within 1/2 mile in the same field). One of my better bad weather feed days, we set on the backside of the hill just over from the roost and had our 60 (20 limit) for three guns in time for one guy to go to work one morning.
I know the area I hunt they flew up on Saturday and went back south Saturday....lack of open water. Sounds like they are really scattered but the bulk as of yesterday are still in southern half of ND to centeral SD. Birds still being killed well south of there. I think this week would be the time to be there for the masses. Again, there will be birds to shoot well into mid to late April.
I would say you will be hitting it about as right as you could hope for advanced date planning. I will be heading out sometime next week for 4 days.
