At 8 ounces lighter, that BD is a solid choice. Makes me want one.
I got the shovel today. Works as well as any shovel I’ve ever used and it is super lightweight which is cool.

2 complaints:
-the telescoping handle dosent lock in the closed position. Maybe this isn’t a big deal but the spring loaded ball that pops through the hole only has one position and that’s when it’s fully extended. All it would take would be one more hole that lines up with the detent in the closed position. Not a huge deal but seems like a strange oversight.

-there is no stop on the blade piece for when you clip the handle to the blade. This makes it possible to slide the handle through the opening and not hit the detect which locks the handle to the blade. A small tab in the aluminum that acts as a stop would solve that problem. This dosent matter as I’m not really using for avalanche safety so speed isn’t a big deal but it is to some people. Again, seems like a strange oversight.

This shovel will hit all my needs and the weight is excellent, I may take a drill to the handle to make that detent hole so the 2 pieces can lock together when not in use.

Thanks for the follow up.
