Snacks?

Two words: Biltong Depot. High protein, high fat, electrolytes, virtually no carbs.

I've made homemade jerky for decades out of everything from beef to venison to ducks (Yes, bufflehead jerky). This year I switched up a bit and did a more biltong-ish recipe from a brisket point. It's chewy, so it's more of a road food than an actual meal.

In years past we have made batches of chicken salad to throw in the cooler with some tortillas for quick lunches. shredded chicken, mayo, celery, and whatever else you want in it (fruits/nuts) to go with your diet and preferred macros. It can be completely keto friendly or downright sweet.

I have to eat very low-carb and when forced to eat fast food I'll get cheeseburgers from McDonalds and just toss the buns, eat the meat(?) and cheese.

Pulled pork or beef brisket, with some coleslaw and vinegar-based hot sauce, and tortillas, can make very tasty BBQ taco-ish dishes on the road if you have a way to reheat the meat. My grandma used to send us deer hunting with leftover sausage and biscuits (I had the grandma that would cook a full breakfast at 5am) with cheese. Wrapped in aluminum foil, you can stuff them under the hood of the car, up on the engine manifold, before you walked into the woods. When you came back they'd be nice and warm from the engine heat.

Summer sausage is almost perfect as a road food and it keeps a long time.

I can tell you I’d consider wrestling a bear for a bag of these honey bun flavored donuts.
Milk duds and bit o honey are favorites.

I have to get harder to chew candy or it be gone before the end of the on ramp.

But typically if u go to a dollar store there’s a smorgasbord of snacks.

Whatever your daughters and your favorites are.
We always take chips, nutty buddy bars, Reese’s cups, Twix, Dr. Pepper, chewy chocolate chip granola bars, crustables, etc. I also take black pepper sunflower seeds because sometimes that’s the only thing keeping me awake on long drives. Also started using Berserker caffeine pouches.

If we’re talking the good stuff… cook up an entire sheet tray of bacon. Best chocolate chip cookies you can find. Some good oatmeal cookies, so when you feel disgusted with yourself, you can keep eating but feel “healthier”. If your doctor doesn’t say your pre-diabetic after the weekend your not doing it right.

I let my kids pick thier own snacks and just throw anything in the cart. It did back fire once when my son over did it and got a huge stomach ache on day one. He cried for over an hour until I decided to just drive him home as I didn't bring anything for upset stomach. After about 30 minutes of bombing down the really rough roads he threw up a bunch and we returned camp. Good times

Wait, isn’t this related to an old thread? All I remember is those brownies got like two pages of comments?
Probably. I love both of those. Been eating healthier for the last year so I haven’t had one since but man, I do miss me some Zebra Cakes.

Pretty sure I lived off of Cosmic Brownies and Keystone for a couple semesters in college.

This is by far my favorite hunting snack. Great bang for your buck, calories to weight ratio.

I could eat one of these bags for breakfast and lunch and do a Peax for dinner and be good.

Sun chips, sour punch kids, dots cinnamon sugar pretzels, peanut butter crackers, chex mix, meat and cheese trays, snack sticks, honey roasted almonds. I love bingeing on junk food on fun hunts.
