Smallrig fluid head removing handle?

I’m new to glassing off a tripod. I got a smallrig head and really like how it feels. The handle seems excessive. I was considering cutting it down and removing the rubber, but then I thought why not just remove it? How much of an advantage is it to have a handle vs just moving the head by grabbing the binoculars? Am I missing something?

Not as big a deal with binos as it is with big spotters.

Some heads have removable handles.

I took the handle off my Sirui VA5 to try and cut weight a couple years ago. With binoculars it was fine, but it was a little awkward with my spotter at first. I was lazy and didn’t put it back on and I’ve been using it that way since and don’t see a reason to go back to using one.

Give it a try. Loosen your handle and just move with your binos. It’s doable and I do it in the field but it’s not my favorite. I really hate that method trying to do micro adjustments with a spotter.

I put a small handle on my ball head because I like doing fine movements with it so much...Without feels awkward to me.
