Need some help. Bought a new rifle. Actually an older rifle but it was new in the box. Sako L61r with the “battue” sights. The way these sights are set up creates a problem with mounting a scope. I’ll attach a picture, hopefully you can see well enough.

The problem lies with the rear sight and a “rib” that attaches to the barrel. It really limits the size of the objective that can be used.

I have already tried a Leupold VX5hd 2-10x42 and that did not clear the rib.

The easy answer is the Leupold 2.5-8x36, I was all set to order one but I just can not get past all the bad experiences of holding a zero and reliability.

So…long story not so short, I need a scope with a small objective that is also tough and reliable. The ultralight SWFA is out of stock. Maven 2-10 has questionable eye relief. Anything I’m missing?????

I’m thinking Trijicon credo 3-9x40 but I’m not sure it will work. It’s probably worth a shot but I was just hoping for some hidden gem that I didn’t know about.

Do a 1-6 type.

Is there a way to set up QD rings on that?

Getting that front sight moved back and have the barrel threaded for a can would be a pretty neat set up.

Should have mentioned that I suppose. I bought a EOtech Vudu 1-8. It works and is a pretty nice optic but I’m just not crazy about the looks. To me, it just didn’t seem to fit.

I guess I just want to keep a more traditional look with it being an older rifle. Honestly I should just use it with the open sights like it was intended but I’m not sure my eyes are good enough anymore.
