Small diameter muzzle brake

Looking to snag a lefty Bergara HMR soon. Think they mic .750" at the muzzle. 5/8X24 threads. I can't seem to find a brake that is under 1" O.D. Am I not looking in the correct places? I really don't want some huge device on the end of the barrel. Think the Micro bastard not available in that thread pitch. Lil Bastard is 1" OD.

Reducing the dia of a brake also reduces its ability to lessen recoil. If you want a good brake, with superb recoil reduction, good looks, quality materials , lightweight, and quality machine work. Look at the Terminator line sold by Ryan Avery the owner of this site.

Don't have the rifle in my hands just yet but FFL mic'd the barrel and text me it's .850" I didn't think the contour on a 26" HMR was gonna be that fat. But that dia should open up options for several, more efficient brakes.

I don't have any suggestions for a small diameter brake either. But I will echo Broz and BRTreedogs in that the Terminator brakes are phenomenal and they don't look as goofy as one might think. (My opinion - and I'm definitely a function over fancy kind of guy)

I can watch holes get punched at 100 yards with this 6.5 CM.

This is the TT self timing model. 20190704_084600.jpg

I have a Bergara HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor with an Area 419 Hellfire self-timing muzzle brake on it. I don't think it looks out of place on the HMR's barrel and it cuts recoil so much that i can spot my own impacts/misses on targets out to 1000 yards. I'm using a Burris XTR II scope with a Horus 59 reticle so i really wanted something that would let me spot misses and with the H59 reticle grid i can see exactly how many 0.2 mil lines off target i am so by using that correction almost guarantees a second round impact unless the wind changes between your first and second shot.

Just do what Broz says...
The Terminator T2 makes my 10 pound 300 RUM very easy to get along with.

Ryan Pierce at Piercision Rifles builds very effective brakes. If your looking at self timing brake I don’t think you’re going to find a brake that’s under 1” OD with a 5/8-24 thread I could be wrong though.

Ross Schuler has a 4-port 0.75" diameter brake. You'll have to time it though. Oh, and his brakes are only $37 shipped.

This would be my recommendation as well. They work very well and super easy to time.

I could outfit every rifle in a small gun safe with these for the price of a single terminator brake. I am sure they are effective but sure are spendy.

The muzzle dia finishing at .850 makes it pretty easy for a one-off Brake also. I just did a batch out of titanium and they are all .865, just a clean up pass on 7/8” stock.

Good to know the HMR is that size at the end, my buddy is picking one up and he wanted a brake for it.

Yeah, I’ve spent upwards of $200 for a muzzle brake that was no better IMO at reducing recoil, and was not nearly as streamlined as this one. As long as he is making brakes for this price, I’ll never look anywhere else. Super good guy to deal with as well!
