I've got a 22 ARC bolt gun that I'm looking to outfit. The can will be on that gun 95% of the time with it also being used on a 243 bolt gun or a 223 bolt gun are other times.

Cans I'm looking at are:
Raptor 8
US Reaper
Airlock

Only other suppressor I've got experience with is a B&T Print XH in the 556 cal. That does good on my gas gun. Screwed it on the bolt and have only shot it 10 rounds and it sounded decent to me but thinking there's a better option for a bolt gun.

Leaning towards the Raptor 8. Open to thoughts and opinions on these and others.

From what I've read and can tell the Raptor 8 and reaper are similar in weight with sound being better one the reaper especially with the OTB which isn't out yet.

From what I've seen the airlock sounds really good and is a nice small package.

A little heavier, but the OCL Polonium sounds fantnastic on my 6ARCs - AR and Bolt - so definitely something I'd consider for this. A little heavier than some at 13oz but not bad (I was used to YHM Phantom LT @ 23oz )

You're missing one of the best. The Dilligent Wolfhunter. I have a Raptor 10 and it's great but no need for it on a 6mm or under. I have a scythe and both the Raptor and the DD can beat it. The wolfhunter is handsdown my favorite can for 6mm or smaller and might be my favorite over all. It's worth a look for sure man.

I was looking at that one as well, forgot to add to the list.

I have a Raptor that I use on all my bolt guns. Have no direct experience with the reaper or the air lock. Thoughts… Love my raptor (8-stack with a 3” reflex). Been around a lot of other cans at the range and I don’t think there is much out there that beats it for suppression and tone. I think the reflex is worth getting. It does add some weight, but it’s behind the muzzle and isn’t that noticeable. It’s still a nice can without it. I expected to take it off for hunting, but just keep it on.

The reaper should perform similarly to the raptor for suppression but will be fatter and will likely be a little tinnier sounding than the raptor with a reflex. I would expect the reaper to be plenty durable, as it is a printed can. Personally, I don’t like the fatter cans.

The airlock will be lighter and handier than both, but will likely be louder and potentially less durable. It’s also a printed can, but is definitely not as burly as the reaper or the raptor. I don’t think there are enough of them out there for me to be comfortable with it for higher volume use. That said a 22 arc may not push it that hard.

There are no free lunches with suppressors. If you want it quiet and soft shooting, it’s gonna be bigger and heavier. If you want it lighter, it’s going to suppress less, kick more, and potentially not last as long.

Do you have the 762 sized raptor?

Yes. Originally bought it for a 300 WSM. Sold the WSM. It primarily gets used for 223/5.56 and 6.5 cm now. AB sells smaller end caps for these, but I haven’t bothered with that. It does a really good job on smaller calibers.

Most of the 22 cal centerfire specific cans you are going to find are heavier inconel and stainless, “duty” cans for ARs. I am not aware of a titanium can that is optimized for stuff smaller than the 6.5, except the DD Wolf Hunter. I’ve heard too many accuracy issues with Dilligent Defense cans to try one of those. However, Unknown Suppressor is apparently planning one for 2026.

Generally speaking, I wouldn’t worry too much about getting a can optimized for smaller calibers (except for rimfire cans). Particularly if it’s a first can. Just look for one that checks as many of your boxes for suppression/recoil dampening and size/ weight as possible.
