Slow moving VMAX on deer and pigs?

Figured I'd ask before subjecting my quarry to live tests. I have a 6.8 SPC AR and recently started reloading. The cartridge is fairly slow, I haven't loaded for it yet but I have a bunch of VMAX I bought for it that I would expect 2550-2650 FPS at the muzzle for the 110gr 27 caliber VMAX bullets. I'm thinking being so slow they may hold together and perform fairly well but I don't have much experience with varmint projectiles. Am I on the right track or wasting my brain cycles noodling down the wrong rabbit hole?

I don’t have direct experience with Vmaxes in this role. But I have a 7TCU bolt gun that I’ve shot a bunch of pigs with. I shoot 110s, 115s, and 120s, various brands. They’re all going in the neighborhood of 2600fps. I’ve had the best results with “varmint” type bullets and I think you are correct in the assumption that they will behave less violently and more like a traditional “hunting” bullet.

IME the 120 Ballistic tip is pretty hard at the reduced speeds I’m seeing, they are known to be a heavy jacketed bullet and suitable for use in much larger and faster cartridges. The HP varmint bullets from Speer and Hornady, possibly both discontinued, give excellent performance. The Sierra 120 Pro Hunter is another that has a reputation for being tender but works great at the reduced speeds I get with the small case.
