Sleeping Pad

Well it’s getting close and I realized that I neglected my sleeping pad. I have a couple and figured I was good only to realize that they are fairly heavy. So give me some final advice. What are you using and what’s it weigh? What have to tired and discarded?

Big Agnes Rapide SL 25x72”
Far and away the most comfortable pad I’ve ever used. The 6 oz weight penalty over the previous XTherm I’ve been using is worth it.
24 oz total weight.

Therm-a-rest NeoAir XTherm. Robust, light, durable, packable and warm.

Zen bivy flex air 25x72. Same weight and R-value as the rapide SL, thinner but with a comfy stretchy top. I don’t camp a ton, but i’ve tried a half dozen pads the past few years

I have the Insulated Static V Lite Sleeping Pad (22 oz) and its been fine so far. I haven't tried some of the others but the others but the one I got is pretty light and relatively affordable. The Thermarest has my eye for the next one.

I’m a big fan of the Nemo Tensor long/wide myself. I have two of them just in case one fails. Pricey but well worth it in my opinion.

Haha! That is great. The first job I had, I changed the name on my name tag to Howie Feltersnatch. Got away with it for 6 months before someone complained.

Thermarests have never let me down. The Neoair that weighs 12 oz for warmer weather and the 16 oz higher R value for cold weather.

I’ve owned one Big Agnes pad. Took it on a two week backpack DIY Stone hunt. It was flawed, lower 1’ of the pad had a “million” holes in it. Slept on the rocks for two weeks. (2011 if I remember correctly).

Also had a one man Big Agnes tent in 2014. Winds sheep hunting would push it over right on top of you. Surprised the aluminum poles never broke. But you sure got wet in the POS when it stormed.

No Big Agnes at this house. Junk in my 2 experiences. YMMV…good luck!

I got away from 20" Xtherm and went to sea to summit 25" ether light. The xthere was too narrow and sounded like a dorito bag. Willing to part ways with at least one of the two I have, the other after season since kids will still be using one.

Just upgraded to the Xtherm after a decade of sleeping on an old guidelite 3/4 length on sheep hunts. The Xtherm is a few ounces heavy, but takes up less space. The higher R value and loft is pretty luxurious.

The S2S etherlite is ok but as was mentioned above, it’s loud and also clammy feeling. It is not as loud as the original Neolite. That thing looked and sounded like a Lays potato chip bag. Popped on my first trip and havent used it since. The ether isn’t as warm as the Xtherm but it is lighter and a decent option.

I was expecting Ben to say he sleeps on spare socks and his toilet paper stash, sleeping pads are too heavy. Caught me off guard there!
