What's up Rokslide! Looking for some good advice on good backcountry sleeping bag that doesn't completely break the bank. Getting ready for a Idaho mule deer hunt in November. Never been but from what I hear it gets into the single digits at night. Any recommendations or experiences would be awesome. Thanks!

Are you going to be backpacking in with it or camping near your truck?

If your looking for lightweight, compact, and meeting it's temp rating your going to be spending some coin. Western mountaineering, feathered friends, and kifaru are some good brands to look at.
If your willing to compromise in one of the above areas wiggys, marmot, montbell, mountain hardwear, and big Agnes may be worth a look.

Have you checked out a quilt? They are light and don't typically break the bank

I took the advice of others on here, and saved up for a western mountaineer badger sleeping bag. it didn't get down to single digits, but temps got down to the teens in a two man tent up on the mountain, and I am SO glad I had that bag. its lightweight, slightly oversized for a mummy bag (which is good for me because I don't like them....LOL), and was worth every penny!

I assume your backpacking when you mention a backcountry trip. If you are truck camping, you can definitely get by with cheaper options by simply nesting one bag inside another, but for a backpack style trip, those lightweight warm bags come with a big price tag.

not only do you want a good bag, but the pad is just as important. The sleep system is an area that (IMO) you don't want to try and cut corners or save $

My brother just picked up a 20 degree Kelty Ignite with Dri Down for something like $140 on Sierra Trading Post. Just under 3 lbs with the stuff sack. Also the Campsaver 10 with 850 fill down is on sale now for $299

I was in the same boat picked up a Kelty Ignite 20 for this up coming year looks to be a decent bag hopefully suits my needs

Right on thanks guys! We'll be flown in and dropped off for a week. We'll have a base camp and might spike out

If you spike out in November it could get darn cold. I would want a dependable 0 degree bag. Also depends on if you're a warm or cold sleeper.

I would want a shelter capable of running a stove as well. Nothing beats a warm shelter to dry gear and lift spirits.

Thanks for all the comments. Think I've narrowed it down to the wiggys Ultima Thule. If anyone's had experience with this bag let me know what you think
