Sleeping Bag repair

What's the go to/best way to do a permanent repair on a down sleeping bag. I have a biggish rip in a bag in need of repair, I know of the gear aid tape that I'll use if that's the ticket, but I didn't know if anyone has found a better way to do a repair opposed to the tape/field type repair.

"Biggish"? What is biggish? 2" or 12"? Post some meaningful pics of the tear and what your goal is (do you want a permanent fix, or a permanent fix that restores the bag to looking like new?

I patched a small-ish hole in my stone glacier bag with a strip of hypafix tape.

They are not fast, & not cheap.
But excellent quality work.
I wouldn’t expect to have it back for this season though.
