Sleeping bag for $300

I'm looking for some opinions on a sleeping bag in the $300 range.
Would like light weight as possible and a small compressed size
This will be for a hunt in Colorado for archery season Elk
Can you all help me with some ideas on what bags to check out for this amount of cash.

You should checkout Enlightened Equipment Quilts. You can get the 750 fill which is only a few oz heavier then the other down options but yet it is still extremely light weight (under 2lbs) and warm.

I would second the EE quilts. I was very skeptical of the whole quilt idea but the more I use it the more I like it and I have even used my 40 degree quilt to below freezing and slept comfortably.

If you are stuck on a bag I would check out Sierra Trading post or a few other similar sites to snag a good deal on last years model of Marmot or something similar.

There are multiple temp rating going from 11oz - 28oz. The Enigma and Revelation can both be had for under $300 in a zero degree bag, price just keeps lowering the higher you go in temp.

I really like the fact that I can go with a 0 degree quilt for less than $300 that is for sure and love the weight also

I picked up a Marmot Helium 15 degree 850 down bag for $290.00. Its compacts down nicely and weighs very little. I Used it Last year in Colorado. It was good down to 32 one night. Another night in Texas it was 18 degrees and I was still warm. If you don't get a quilt this bag is a winner

^^^ I went with Mountain Hardwear as well. I bought the Lamina 0° since I'm a bigger guy through the shoulders and stomach area. Do not forget to take this into consideration when you are ordering. Get a flexible tape measure and take a few measurements before you order.

I love my slick bag, I have the old one. I also have a Big Agnes Farwell 0F, I'm 6-03, and 260 so it was harder to get a long / wide bag and keep the weight down. That being said I like the slick bag better because it compresses more than the Farwell. I have used both for back packing and a horse pack trip.

I also like the marmot helium. You can probably find a NEW one online for under. $300. Lightweight and packs down small.
