Hey guys,

I just got a used pair of 2019 Swarovski SLC 10x42. I've seen a lot of complaints of the focus knob being rough/gritty. Just wondering if there was a DIY fix or do you need to send them in for service?

Cheers,
Phil

I sent mine in for that reason. About 6 weeks later, I got them back and the knob is now smooth like it should be. I don’t know of a DIY fix.

I have a pair of 15x SLC I’ve never had a problem with the focus knob though. I ended up dropping them on a rock and did some damage and had to send them in. They were awesome to work with you could call them and ask about it.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll give them a shout after the weekend and see what they have to say.

Keep us posted. Mine are the same vintage and has a horrible feel to it as well, but for some odd reason really smooths out when it gets pretty cold out. My boy's cheap set of Diamondback's feel 10x better then my SLC wheel....

Will do man. I'm probably going to try and run them for a bit to see if they smooth out with use. I'll see what they say though.

Wow glad I'm not the only one. Bought a used pair of 10x slc, knob was pretty gritty, sent them in, knob was still a little gritty but better, it is worse right around that 100-200 yd range where most used. It got better over time with use but still not ideal. My 20 year old $200 luepold 10x binos have a firmer and smoother knob than these...

I have some slc and the knob feel is terrible. Swaro haven’t been much help for the issue yet though. Disappointing for the price

That's a drag. I've heard nothing but good things about their customer service. Did you send them in for service and they did nothing with it?

Had that issue and sent the binocs in for a lens refresh and wished they had never cleaned up the focus knob. While gritty it didn't move when it went in/out of my bino harness. Once cleaned up I had to dick with it most times I pulled them out to use them. Be careful what you wish for....

Mine were scratched and the focus was gritty plus too loose. Swaro replaced the lenses on my dime and returned the focus to a useable condition under warranty.
