Sizing question for the KUIU crowd.

I'm sure this has been brought up on occasion, but I just received my first KUIU piece, the Talus Hybrid pant, and wow…I knew to size up, but I didn’t realize I needed to size up this much.

I ordered a 34x34. I normally measure around a 33x32, and these are tight. I mean full-on skinny jeans. Like I should be ordering an oat milk latte while debating single origin beans at the coffee counter, tight.

To be clear, the pants seem extremely well designed. They check every box I wanted for wet weather and breathability. But there’s no way I could actually hunt in these. Hell, I'm not sure if I can walk in these.

I bike, climb and ski, so I’ve got some leg muscle, but I wouldn't say that I've got tree trunks.

Is this normal for KUIU? Should I be looking at a 36…maybe a a 38...or maybe just stick with Sitka for a more standard fit?

Kuiu has a whole fit/ sizing program on their website, did you go through the steps on that?

What you experienced happens to me a fair amount whenever I’m buying from a new source. The problem is you can’t go by your Jeans size because those are all over the map and usually different from an actual measuring tape.

Their pants just aren't made for anyone with decent sized legs.
I wear a 33/32 daily, often have to go to 34 or sometimes a 35 waist to get legs to fit well...sold my last pair of Kuiu when the 38 became a skinny jean. Great design but felt like tights from the quads down and the waist was on it's way to become an extra pocket it was so large

Appreciate it. I did go through the sizing on their site. Then took a deep dive into the reviews which primarily suggested going up one pant size. Thinking that maybe the size 36 might be be a closer match.

I was able to get the pants buttoned around the waist, but the legs fit like lycra. It's a shame, I really think they design some absolutely amazing products. But a pair of size 34 Sitka Timberlines fit just like any other pair of softshell pants that I've ever bought from OR, Patagonia or Marmot. So, I just might have to stick with Sitka.

I consistently wear a 33-34 waist, I always purchase a 36 waist in KUIU.

Most of their jackets a buy a size up as well. The merino tops, I find run close enough to size that I buy normal size.

The only caveat was the heavy weight gale force jacket, I opted for the XL and it is huge on me.

Good to know! I haven't given up on them yet and have been eying up their Axis Hybrid Jkt. I'll be sure to try out both the lg and xl.

You’re not alone. I’ve sold or given away most of my kuiu pants because I can’t fit into them and they’re not functional for me. Legs are too tight, pockets too tight, cut is inconvenient, etc.

I’ve switched to Sitka or just the stretchy hiking pants from Walmart (which are quite good for $25)

I stay away from pretty much all Kuiu pants except for their attack pants. Everything else is too tight. Legs and waist. I have even found that the attack pants in the waist are starting to get smaller than normal. I just can’t understand why so many companies make everything like skinny jeans and call them athletic fit. Most hunters I know have dad bods. A little thicker around the middle in our middle age including those of us past middle age.

34x34 Jeans are the norm for me in most major brands, I size up to 36 in Kuiu because of the more relaxed cut and better overall mobility and fit.

The last time Kuiu made a 34 that fit like a 34 should, was when they were making the clothing in Canada.
