Size matter?

In the market for a spotter? Leaning really hard toward mavens at the moment. But question is, which size to go with? These things aren’t cheap and I want it do be able to do as many jobs as possible. 60’s 50’s or the big guys in the 80’s range. Is the extra mag. worth the loss in compactness? If I went smaller and compact, would I regret it when in the field? What advice y’all have on making dollars stretch as far as brands? Are the Alpha’s an investment I could recoup later? What y’all think? Just looking for advice

Simply yes, alpha glass will hold its value better if looking to resell.
All things equal bigger is better for viewing but worse to carrying. Smaller scopes are easier to justify carrying up the hill and a great scope does less good if it's left in the truck or back at camp.

I like big scopes and just stuck it up and pack it around. It's anyways worth it to me when I look though it.

I have a 20-60x80. Not horrible for carrying compared to the newer even bigger spotters.
You don't regret it when glassing.

I have read many times, Swaro 25-50x65 which is a little smaller compared to the 80, doesn't give up much when low light glassing compared to the 80.

I have the 80 and have contemplated going with the 65 but I think I will miss the 80. Plus, I will only save 9 oz.

I feel like better to have and not need than need and not have. The little spotter swaro has out looks pretty slick. I wish there was a way to try out different brands and sizes but way too much coin to buy just to compare. Basically I guess it comes down to magnification and light gathering ability. How much mag does a guy truly need? I’m a south east whitetail hunter who plans on yearly western trip so I’m not familiar with glassing 1 mile plus. And I’m not a trophy inch counter. So would a smaller alpha glass be better than a large mid level spotter? Low light ability is a priority for me. And then next thought is big bino vs spotter?? Wow, I wonder if optic setups is the rabbit hole Alice was talking about??
