I don't really understand why they don't consolidate some of their lineup when certain items seem to be almost the same thing. Such as the heavyweight hoody, grinder hoody and fanatic hoody. I get the pockets can be different and of course colors. But what am I missing otherwise?

It seems the hvywt hoody is more designed as a base layer as part of a system of layers while the fanatic is a mid/outer layer designed to be worn as part of a system or by itself. If that makes sense.

I get there are small nuances between the pieces, but i can see two different niches those two pieces fill.

I do not own a grinder so i wont speak to that specifically.

Have both fanatics and heavyweight hoodies. Nice pieces. The fanatic is interesting but I got annoyed with the cuff/mittens wearing a watch or layering. The heavy width hoodie gets it done for me.

I agree with @Adam Gibbs that a lot of pieces are overlapping or close in terms of function but it doesn’t bother me at all. I find most Sitka gear super task specific and I think that allows you to go way deep on a very specific use case, if you like - the pocket arrangements on some of their whitetail line being super bow hunter oriented for instance. I am fine ignoring the variants that don’t fit my needs.

I have a HW Hoodie in sub alpine and Fanatic in EV2, they are the same warmth and I use them interchangeably depending on the situation. Its interesting they offer the new Jetstream in both and will offer the Stratus in both. For me in Michigan, usually by the time the leaves are down where I feel the EV2 really shines performance wise, I am breaking out the stratus system. But I am sure some people will buy it.
