Hey guys! Im curious if anyone has an opinion on the comparison of the warmth of these two jackets. Especially for late season backpack style hunts with lots of high altitude glassing.

I couldn’t resist picking up the WS hoody. I don’t have the Skre, but I do have the Grumman and the Lost Park Parka, so I’ll be comparing it to them. The Skre seems very similar to the Grumman based on the specs. The WS hoody’s addition of a laminate is going to make it warmer just based on that combined with the fill. But its going to be heavier and less packable. The laminate will do better in snow/light precip.

Completely different class jackets.
SKRE is a 5 oz fill of high power treated down
Sitka is just shy of 10oz fill (blended down and synthetic) with wind shear.

If by late season you mean cold temps snow on the ground and wind the SKRE will leave you wanting more. I like the SKRE a lot and used it for two seasons but in 30 and below with wind and snow you will be cold in a short amount of time.
First Lite Chamberlain is in the same class as the Sitka or get two SKRE Ptarmigans and carry both.

Just as Dover said two completely different jackets…the WS hoody isn’t something your going to wear while moving, it’s more for sedentary situations & hunkering down
