I did see they came out with socks too. I wonder how close they are to the old gore socks they used to sell. Those were excellent.

Was looking to see how much natural rubber they have. One pair indicates “Our revolutionary construction does away with rubber and neoprene uppers, and instead is engineered with breathable GORE-TEX laminates ”. Another pair just says rubber and not specific.

$230 is about $50 more than the equivalent lacrosse boot in the non-goretex version. If they truly fit better and therefore hold your foot better in any sort of terrain (doubtful) people will pay that in a heartbeat. Some
people will pay it anyway, and you can bet sitka/gore will give hundreds of pairs away to influencers as marketing.

$400 is a lot for boots that typically dont last more than a couple seasons. Ive more or less happily paid more for leather-lined rubber boots because in the long run it was cheaper than buying 3 or 4 pairs of lacrosse during that time period, and they’re way more secure side-hilling. If these really breathe and get rid of the clammy rubber-boot humidity then Im sure it’ll be popular in areas where people live in their rubber boots.

Call me skeptical, but open-minded. And not first in line to find out.

As a long time commercial fishermen I can assure you xtratufs are the only choice for rubber boots.....

I go thru a pair of rubber knee boots every 12-18 months. The price point seem onerous, but if they get good reviews, I may try them at some point in the future.

Never worn extratuffs. Honestly, only ever seen them used as fashion footwear, never seen anyone using them in the woods or marsh. For you two guys who seem to be fans, what is it about the extratuffs that is so much better? @The_Crab_Slayer @WRO

The reason I ask is that the only extratuffs Ive seen have smooth soles that would be useless in steeper terrain. Do they make boots that can be used in a swamp/mountain terrain combination, steep muddy river banks, etc?

I’ve climbed some pretty steep stuff in mine, they’re the most comfortable best fitting rubber boots out there. I’ve hiked into rivers all over in mine. I have a set that’s 20 years old and still not leaking. The soles clean out really well, I know guys who’ve killed mountain goats wearing them.

I saw these in person the other day at a shop. They were surprisingly lightweight, but also pretty big (high volume). Pretty ugly for a $400 boot.

Maybe I should try a pair when my current ones wear out. What model do you use on steeper terrain? Looks like the only ones with a mud sole are the “alpine” ones?
