Sitka Fanatic Sizing - L or XL?

Hoping to get some input on the Sikta Fanatic jacket, as I don't have a retailer nearby with a jacket in stock. I'm 6'2" 185-195lbs, thin build - 42" chest, 35.5" sleeve length. According to the Sitka size chart, I should order a large. However, I own a large tall in the Fanatic Hoodie, and it fits perfectly to my liking - still loose around the chest and long enough in the sleeve and torso. My main concern, since the Fanatic Jacket isn't in a large tall, is the torso length - as I prefer the longer length. Would a large be sufficient or should I size up to a XL? Appreciate any opinions!

I am 6’3”, 205, 44L in a suit. In most Sitka tops/jackets, wear an XL mostly, but L in certain items. Fanatic jacket is one of those. Am a L in both the bibs and jacket.

I suspect that you are a L also. To be sure, swing by a retailer that carries Sitka and try one on.

I’m 5’10” 190 lbs and I just got the XL, don’t think I would want the L. I lean toward XL
In almost all sitka items.

6'2 195. Get the Large. I made a mistake of getting the XL Stratus jacket and while it layers very well, it layers a bit too well. I got the Fanatic in L and it's fine with layers.

My temp range is 35 or below for typical layering:
UA compression Tee, long or short sleeve; Sitka heavy merino top; Fanatic hoodie.
I wear the Incinerator hat as well and if it's closer to or below 20 F, then I'm taking the neck gaiter.

I prefer the bibs for the cold for the extra lower back and abdomen coverage. I have those in a large and layer those with a light merino, heavy merino, Equinox midi pants then the bibs. If it's a situation where I'll be moving as much as sitting, I'll swap the Timberline pants for the bibs, especially if it is not a windy day.

Also will say that I wear the light weight Fanatic gloves in ANY temperature. The hand muff pocket is fantastic. I usually have a pair of Traverse gloves and an orange Stratus beanie in there as well. If I add a hand warmer, it's almost too warm.

I'm 6'2" 200lbs and have worn both, it really depends how much you want to layer under it. With minimal layers (base layer and a long sleeve or thin hoody) the Large will be good, if you want to wear bulkier stuff and prefer a baggier fit then go XL.

I'm 5-10, 175 and need a L to be able to have any layers underneath. Could wear a M, but would only be able to have a baselayer under the jacket.

I’m 5’8 220 and have a 48 in chest I went with the xl. The jacket is a little shorter than others because is supposed to be paired with bibs

So I was able to stop in a couple of stores to try the fanatic jacket on. The large was too short for my liking. The XL was a little wide in the chest and arms, but the torso length was good. The wife suggested trying on a women's XL, as the size chart online showed a 42"-44" chest, which was similar to the men's large (42"-45") and well, it fit like a glove. Fit like the men's large with the torso length of a men's XL. Guess I now have the added bonus of a hood.

Appreciate all of the replies!

Glad to hear the hand muff pocket works well! I usually don't like to wear gloves, so it will be nice to have warm hands for once lol

The Fanatic is definitely warm. Living in N Georgia, overkill for me. Occasionally, temps will hit the low 20’s (morning) gradually warming during the day. Cold tolerance is a personal thing, but I have been able to layer and use my Stratus jacket and bibs for 90% of my hunting. (Have Fanatic and Solitude sets sitting in basement) Normally wear a combination of long underwear and various insulating layers and can stay comfortable. Midi pants are a game changer. ( If Sitka only made some Fanatic socks, I would be a happy camper)

Probably laziness as much as anything. I try to minimize the amount of gear I take to the hunt club. I generally rifle hunt from ground blinds and tree stands, guessing bow hunting might change my opinion somewhat.

5'11", 167, 41 chest - have the fanatic in Large and I can layer a thin base layer, a thin fleece and two medium fleeces under it. Good all day below freezing.

Thinking of ordering the women’s one for myself as well because I want a hood. My only concern is I am 6’0” and have long arms. Worried the womens one might have shorter sleeve length. Do you know how the sleeve length compares to the men’s sizes? Thanks

I have a 72.5" wingspan, 35.5" sleeve length and the sleeve length on the women's XL is pretty spot on for me. I do not remember how the men's large fanatic sleeve length fit (remember it being too short in torso length for my liking), but the online size chart says 35". I'd say it's definitely comparable to that. I don't think you'll have an issue.
