Sitka Dewpoint Raingear Review, By Mike Moore

Unless Sitka has changed the dew point since I bought my set in 2021, looks like you might have the older version? One of the pictures shows the combined pit zip and hand pocket the previous version had…
I just found a used Sitka Gortex Jacket for $40. Good shape and in my size. I snapped it up. But I don't know exactly which one it is. I don't know why Sitka doesn't place the name of the series anywhere on their gear. Any idea how to identify these? There are a few numbers on the tag but a Google search was not conclusive.

Probably best in its own thread in the clothing section, post up some pictures of the jacket and the tags with all the information. I bet we could at least narrow it down pretty good for you.

How are these faring now that Sitka stopped using Goretex? Is the new waterproofing as good?

If they have, I don’t think that’s in circulation yet. Considering Goretex is the parent company I think they’ve probably been working on a chemical compliant version of gortex and that’s what we will see in the future.

I believe you’re right. Anticipating the PFAS bans. My bad. Sorry for the confusion.

I’ve got a question regarding the fit of the dew point jacket. I know it’s standard fit/oversized so you can wear it over your other jackets, but is it roomy enough to accommodate a big puffy like the Hyperdown without compressing the down?

I wear an XL/XLT in pretty much everything Sitka, t shirts, hoodies, etc. but do you think it’d be worth going with a 2XL so it could fit over my puffy without squishing it? I don’t mind jackets being a bit loose, but I also don’t want it fitting me like I’m some 14 year old wearing his dad’s suit jacket to homecoming.

Hi—I would consider going up one size if the goal is to get it over a big puffy. I just tried on my Dew Point jacket over what I would consider a big puffy (Patagonia DAS parka) and while I can get it over, it's tighter than ideal.

Thanks Mike. You’re always super helpful with gear feedback. Looks like mountain archery has the dew point in 2XL for $129. The Oak color isn’t my favorite but it’s hard to complain for that price. At least it isn’t neon….

Great jacket. I'm 5'6", 165lbs, athletic build. I bought a large originally, it fits a little looser than I like since I used to be 30lbs heavier. Still doesn't look enormous on me, but I'm planning to eventually get the Kuiu Yukon TR jacket in medium. I like the idea of it being more "durable" than the typical paper thin 3L Gore-Tex.
