Anyone had experience with the Sitka Cloudburst jacket? How well did it perform in the field ?

Cheers

Mine has been fine in colder wet weather. Hot wet weather I seem to get wet inside it. Heard on a podcast once that the Gore-Tex pushes moisture from the warmer temp inside to the colder temp outside. Maybe when it's hot that doesn't happen so much. I wasn't active or sweating some of the times I got wet inside it.

Very happy with mine. Bought it last year and wore it on one particularly rainy 2-day hunt. 40s with constant rain. I was perfectly happy and actually didn’t realize how miserable my hunting buddies were. They wanted to pack it in and go home at the end of day 2 and I was surprisingly comfortable.

Ive used mine quite a bit in some crappy rain and snow. It’s done great, pretty dang durable and keeps me dry. I’ve used it both climbing up mountains as well as stationary... it’s cut well for me and allows a fleece and puffy underneath

This system is great for the guys and girls that go out for about 30 days a year and see about 5 to 10 days of bad weather on their season. My wife does about 25 to 30 days a year in the field big game hunting and the cloudburst setup has never failed her when the weather tried to kick us off the mountain. This is a great set up for those one to two hard hunts a year in the Midwest after elk and mule deer.

Scott.....any change in fit? I schit canned all my FL as I got fed up with the sizing BS. I have been a true XL in all tops Sitka EXCEPT for one puffy I tried on and can't recall which....no WAY the XL was gonna fit.

Wanna make sure an XL will fit over a Jetstream, or Kelvin WS and not leave me bound up. Plus I'm short. Going XXL may be trouble

I have the Cloudburst Jacket and matching pants in XL.
I am 6'2" 220 lbs and they fit a bit large with space to layer underneath for colder weather.

I live in the PNW and have been out in the worst weather imaginable lasting 5-6 days in torrential downpours with 8-9 hours each night to dry out the best I could. Water will wick up the arms from the cuffs after a few days, but the outfit breathes well for rain gear (better than anything I have ever tried) . My hunting partners have faired far worse than I have given they went with the typical Cabelas brand rain gear and regretted it on day one.

Given a choice, I would buy again!

Do you feel like the Cloudburst is a durable set of gear? I also live in the PNW and the snags and thorns as you know are a real issue.

I would say size up. I am a 2xl in most sitka stuff. My 2xl jetstream would not work well under my 2xl cloudbust. Main issue would be the sleeves binding. I have run a 2xl kelvin lite under it without issue. But if I wanted to be able to throw the cloudburst on over everything regardless of what layers I was wearing I would have gone a size up.
