Anybody use these? Would they be good for busting brush pheasant hunting? I’m a big KUIU attack pant guy but want something durable and sticker proof. Also looking at the FirstLite sawbucks as well but the sitkas would be more versatile for everyday wear.

I have couple pair. They are pretty durable, though I don’t know that I would bust brush and briers with them but I don’t seem them getting torn up in moderate stuff. That said I don’t see they as any kind of field pants, more everyday pants. They don’t seem to pick up any stickers or debris. I do really like the fit. I seem to wear them weekly in the line up as they look and feel good. My only issue was that are a touch too long for me so I had them hemmed. I am a 30 inch inseam and they were 32

The Back Forty are pretty durable for a cotton blend (47% cotton, 37% Cordura, 16% Lycra) pant. The fact that it is a cotton blend pant makes it unsuitable for an upland pant for me as it will end up soaking up moisture and will be slow to dry. I'd go with the FL Sawbucks as they are not only more comfortable to me but are also better suited for the application.

I have a pair of back 40's.. the crotch area burred up badly but hasn't blown out yet lol. They're ok.. I wouldn't use them for brush hunting where a brush pant like first lites sawbucks would be better suited. They have the feel of a cotton duck pant.

They have a *very* loose fit in the upper/lower leg area. After wearing KUIU attacks and kutanas daily for a long time I now prefer a more streamlined fit.

Fjallraven Keb pants are hard to beat for upland. You can add some wax to them if you want to increase the water resistance.

I have some kebs too.. they have heavy seams in the crotch area (sounds like I have a crotch area problem lol) but you will find out real quick if pants have heavy crotch seams over a 20 mile hike. I'll do some 10-20 mile hikes in all my pants with some sax, ex officio, or merino boxers of choice and you'll find out which ones are going to chafe or blow the crotch.

My KUIU pants have never chafed or even worn the crotch area. they're just REALLY good pants... and smoke most other outdoor pants.

But again.. back 40's aren't that great for much of anything.. just a run of the mill pant imo.. and I'm a huge sitka fan.

I know you asked for brush pants but I'd rather just destroy some kuiu kutanas than wear something that's going to chafe me or be uncomfortable over a long day.
