Sitka Ascent Pants Review, By Mike Moore

The Ascent are my go-to early season and turkey season pants. When I first got them, I didn't think they would hold up being so lightweight but I'm going on year five with mine. Maybe when Sitka discovers hip vents, they will add them to the Ascent.

These are a nearly perfect pair of pants. I have had a pair for five years and they have undergone multiple repairs secondary to tears from falls on granite and snags on barbwire. IF they had side vents and a small zippered butt pocket they would be perfect!

My favorite lightweight pants. I first used a brand new pair in Mexico for a Gould turkey hunt in 2019. We headed down through some brambles that were just tearing at the fabric, I thought we’ll this is it for this pair of paints. I wore them for five days straight and came out without a snag. I don’t know what they’re made out of but it’s a tough material. They were also very comfortable in the hundred degree heat. I came back and when they went on sale I bought two more pairs. I also have one of the Ascent shirts that I’ve use for early season deer hunts over the last couple years that’s held up well too.

Sounds like the Ascent is going to be discontinued, but replaced with something to fill the niche of an early season pants. Be interesting to see what it is.
