Sirui Va-5 Problem

Hello all,

I have a problem with the Va-5 head. The optic lock prevention doesn't work. The brass button does not stick out to prevent the optic from sliding off the tripod. The red button will pull the button down, but upon release it stays down. I can press it into the up position, but when I let go, gravity pulls the button down.

I have included some pictures.

I have taken it apart and it looks fine. I'm not sure if needs a spring? I have no idea where one would go. I bought this head used and it arrived in the condition I have it. It was awhile before I discovered the problem, so I can't return it.

Any of you VA-5 uses have this problem? Or know a fix?

Did you try unscrewing it from the bottom? I’m guessing the spring broke or is missing.
Edit: my mistake, I was looking at the plate not the base. Try taking the 3 small screws out, it should expose the spring for the brass piece.

I did take it all apart. There is no spring. The bottom three screws were removed to revel how the red release button works. The brass button moves freely, no spring. Is it supposed to have a spring? Where would it go if it does?

There is a spring on the brass plunger, and a spring for the red lever.

Okay got it. I have the spring for the red lever. No spring for the brass plunger. Thanks!

Mine also has 2 springs - at least it's an easy fix for ya!

Ya it wasn't too bad. I built one out of a ball point pen spring Thanks for the help crew!
