Has onyone modified their SIRUI ST-125? I was going to look into cutting down some weight if there was an east way to do it. I’ve heard of people removing sections of the legs or trimming/ removing the center post entirely. Anyone have experience with this? Cheers

Not a Sirui but I have modified my Slik 624. Removed center post and removed the smallest leg section. I have all parts if I ever want to put it back together. On the leg ends I got rubber tips from off Amazon that I slipped on. I also removed the handle completely from my Va5 head, it just screws off. I can pan just fine using my scope body for the handle. Just look at the way it is put together should be quite similar. For my use, with an angled scope and glassing sitting it works great.

I removed the center post on a tripod I have because it was in the way with my legs when glassing. The issue I had is finding off the shelf tubing that was the exact diameter to work with the tripod components. I ended up in my friends garage with an end mill and lathe and was able to make an adaptor out of solid aluminium. It came out great, but in the end I wondered if it was worth the $250 it would be to buy exactly what I needed.

On my Slik the center post is two pieces threaded together. I just screwed off a section so the stub is left to hold head in the tripod.
