I have the same set-up as TacoHunter above accept I keep my top pin at 50 yards. Second one ends up at 61. I don't move them and aim low. I know if I aim 12" low for anything between 8-43 yards, it'll be a dead animal. Very simple with a little practice. I shot an elk at 20 yards and a deer at 63 last season. Never touched the slider once. Only used the rangefinder once on the deer.

Interesting reading all the threads here and on other forums about single vs fixed pin sights. Either way the same issue comes up, slider adjustment in a rush situation or fixed pin clutter. When I mention my EZV sight and how it gives me a good middle of the road guys have a hard time really understanding this. For the moment let's just disregard the ranging part and look at the aiming part of the EZV sight. I will only compare it to a fixed pin sight as that is what it is. With it you have a wide open site picture comparable to a slider and at the same time you have the fixed pin sight advantage. Next question that always comes up about the sight is how accurate is it, it's only as accurate as you the shooter can aim. I've spent the last 3mths , mond. thru. fri. shooting side by side with target shooters using target setups in axcess of 2grand.
Bottom line, at 20yds. max for the indoor range I could stay within an inch of them pretty consistently. Keep in mind I was using my hunting bow setup for hunting. Common comment from them was impressed with a sight they were a bit skecptic able about it. You guys should really give this sight some consideration.

X2, one less thing to adjust at the last minute.

Amen, Bro ! I like my 5 Pin as, it's sighted at, 30 Yards, thru,.. 70 Yds and,.. ONE less "movement" !
My Red middle pin, is 50 yard's, EZ to remember,.. just, Range, pick one, hold a few inches up/down if odd yardage and,..shoot !

Look up the trick pin system by Darin Cooper on here for setting up your single pin. Great option for elk calling scenario one pin to 45-50yds and you aim at the same spot regardless of range inside that. I have used it successfully but you need to make sure like anything else and practice with it.

I would go with the single pin. I agree with MtnOyster. I set mine for 35 yds and just learn to shoot high or low. It seems much more simple to me. No worries about using the wrong pin. Plus I find that with multiple pins that I sometimes do not center the pin I'm using in my peep. The only time that I move the pin is for really long shots.

For no other reason than to put a post above the NM draw results topic for a minute or two...

5 pin, with the bubble/wire intersection for the max distance (85 yards with current set-up).

Whoever decided to send that NM hunter's safety email today has a sick and twisted sense of humor!

Target range and 3D: Single Pin. Hunting (And practice leading up to the season): 5 Pin Slider. I run a Spot Hogg Hogg Father where I can have both a single pin and a 5-pin set up for the same bow and swap them out in seconds...

I can't figure out which one I like more the double pin SH or three pin slider... I do know that I will not use more than 3 pins ever again though. Personal preference on a clean sight picture.

I switched a couple years ago from a 5 pin fixed to a single pin slider. I tested the time it took to slide the pin after ranging and realized that was never going to cost me a shot at a bull. With the speed of today’s bows (470 grain arrow at 302fps) I don’t need 5 pins stacked on top off each other. It takes less than 1 second to adjust the dial...if you feel it’s needed. I prefer the open sight picture and Single focus point. There are benefits to both and as with most things it comes down to personal preference. I just don’t buy the it’s too much movement or it takes to long argument.

I've just seen too many guys spook elk at short range to believe thats just wishful thinking

I am running a MTB 3 pin slider after shooting a Axcel 5 pin for the last 10 years and so far I like the change. I found that my eyes aren't quite what they used to be and shooting between the pins at 50/60 isn't as easy as it once was. Also wanted to continue to practice beyond 60. With arrows getting as pricey as they are, I don't feel fiscally sound holding 22 inches over the x at 80 yards. I feel like any shot I take over 45 yards is going to be ranged anyways and that I should have time to make the adjustment. 6 one way....

I've just switched to a 3 pin Fast Eddie with a double pointer. I plan on adding a pointer for the third pin. I really like know where all three pins are no matter where the dial is pointing. My 3 pins are set at 20,35,50. I'll be running the same setup as this video.
