Who here shoots 3D archery with an adjustable sight on their hunting bow, but doesn't like having to shoot the Open Class with the scoped up target guys? Would you like to see a separate class just for adjustable sight bowhunting setups? We started a
"Modern Bowhunter Class" for our upcoming event "The Shootout at Silver Mountain Ski Resort and we were told we are wasting money on trophies because there isn't enough guys to make up a class. I feel they are wrong. Let's hear it.

Were about 50/50 on fixed pin and slider sights when selling a higher end set up. More and more people are gravitating toward movable sights. So no I don't think you're wasting your time.

I did feel like the movable sight shouldn't be enough to push a person into the open class with long stabs and magnification, so I bought a target bow and set it up with long stabs and magnification...

I think your idea is good though and I would like that option for those times when the goal is to "practice hunting" rather than "practice archery" which IMO are different things.

I think you'll have plenty of single pin shooters, I think it's great that it doesn't move you to open.

How are the registration numbers looking so far? I'm waiting on a trade but hope to shoot it. Matt

Matt,
registration numbers are better than I thought they would be this early in the year. I didn't expect to have anyone sign up until late April/May.
People are excited for the event and if everyone shows up that says they are going to (which they probably won't) there will be 500+ people shooting. I hope to see you there.

I do one 3D shoot a year for charity, we all shoot the open class with fixed sights on our hunting bows, we're not tournament shooters at all.

We like kicking their asses with their lenses, chairs, stabilizers, magnifiers and tournament purses. But, I like your idea, we pull our hunting bows out of the case and go shoot, their should be a class that covers that no matter how it's setup
