Would you choose it to be a little small or a little big? Primary use will be brown bear on AK peninsula. Some hiking, but not a ton.

I tried on a Simms G3 boot, size 11. With the stocking foot, they just fit, maybe slightly tight. They didn’t have a 12, so they ordered one, and hopefully it’ll be here this week.

I normally wear 10.5 in most all boots and shoes. I’m afraid the 12 will be a little big.

Any concern with Simms Freestone Boot vs the G3? My local shop has the freestone.

I’d definitely go on the big side. Thick Wool socks in the waders for warm feet. The freestone is a solid, well made boot. Cant go wrong with either.

I have the G3 in 11 and I’m a 10 or 10.5 in most boots and shoes. Fit well and I walked a ton in them. Bought mine for a brown bear hunt too. My only complaint is the soles are very slick on wet rocks. Be careful.

Thanks for the responses!
Wish they made an 11.5, but sounds like I’ll probably go with the 12. Still need to try that on.

A little big, Simms has a sizing guide on their website, I’d definetly not order without being sure, call or email Simms if you need to. The neoprene on the sock takes up space, you’ll need more room to be comfortable. I wear a size 12, a Simms xl wafer fits perfectly with a 13 boot.

I got the Freestones a few months ago. I usually wear a 10.5 shoe and got the 11s. They fit very well and are comfortable. I hiked with them a couple miles on some public land duckin' I did this season.

12's are going to feel a little big if 11's are right on the verge.... you don't have to go with simms wading boots... korkers makes some good options (order a size up from shoe size for good fit) and Redington's newer version of the Prowler is a great boot... order your shoe size with them. i cover a lot of country in wading boots every winter, and hate big clumsy boots, that's why i don't wear Simms boots, they don't fit me well.... if i get my shoe size, they are a little too tight, size up and they are too big and i'm not very sure footed going across a ledge with a little foot hold and white water below me.... can't really slip. lots of that kinda stuff fishing the river canyons around here, and boots too big make that pretty sketchy. too tight is uncomfortable and feet freeze if it gets cold out.

korkers are interesting for your purpose with the quick change soles depending on what you are doing, and many options with the boa lacing system (which i'm still in the air with)

the redington prowlers have been the best fitting wading boots i have used, and have held up incredibly well.... a good bit better than the pair of freestones i had

Absolutely go up a size. I actually wish I had gone up two sizes with my G3s so I could fit some aftermarket insoles in them.

Thanks for the info, seeing mixed reviews on the Redingtons, but I might try to find a pair of the prowlers.
Ive really been afraid to order these without trying them on.
Still waiting on my local shop to get the 12.
I think I really need a 11.5 in the Simms, but they don’t make one.

Well, I got a pair of Redington Prowler Pros on Roosiebull’s suggestion. Only have 2 miles on them so far, but they feel great and the size 11 fits me well. The size 11 in Simms was too small and 12’s were too big.

If the Redington’s hold up half as well as they have for Roosie, I’ll be happy.

Thanks for everyone’s input!

I wear 10.5/11 shoes, 12 simms freestone with my g3 waders. Tight = frozen feet

Edit: late to the party. Hope the redingtons work out for ya!
