I looked at a Simmons Aetec 4 x 14 x42 (if I remember correctly)
It was a clear scope and looks nice. Think it would work great on my 270.

Does anyone have one of these scopes and if so how do you like it?
Have you had any problems with it?

What is your scope budget and what kind of hunting/shooting are you going to be doing?

It will be used for white tail deer hunting in Indiana, longest shot would be about 200 yards over a bean field.
My budget is about $200.00
It is going to be mounted on a Ruger American 270.

I would do this:

I would pass on the Simmons. The Aetec line used to be pretty good, but they are no longer made in Japan AFAK. Simmons isn't known for quality.

Burris Fullfield 2, or E1 in 3-9, or 4.5-14 would work well. IMO Burris makes the best options at that price point. No frills, but solid scopes for the money.

I'll throw out a plug for Cameraland New York here and tell you to call them to buy it. They are good guys.

Remember in the old days people got by with 2.5x fixed power scopes just fine. Most of us are over scoped today For the short ranges many of us shoot.
