SilencerCo Scythe Ti failures

SilencerCo Scythe Ti Owners: Have you had a catastrophic failure?

Yes. I’ve stated repeatedly for a reason- catastrophic failure of a suppressor for any reason is really, really bad. It is functionally a pipe bomb on the end of your rifle, and people think it’s cool to go “super, extreme lightweight” as if you aren’t trading massive safety margins for it. Even using a suppressor in a way it isn’t meant for- say a short barrel 5.56 AR15 and doing rapid fire; the can should not have a catastrophic failure. Baffle wear is fine, cans coming apart, end caps breaking on one piece designs, baffles bending or having extreme tearing or pieces missing: all are very, very bad.

Unfortunately hunters and shooters are ignorant and want to believe in magic. I predict that we will see more and more failures of new cans as people race to the bottom for weight, even with, or maybe especially with printed cans.
So what do you think about airlock zero gravity cans? Those seem to be pretty far on the lightweight spectrum

Count me as a failure. 22-250ai, I don’t know what I will do with the replacement, I guess 223’s. Do not trust this can.
Yeah I’m in the same boat, I won’t feel good selling it new in box either.

Ouch. How long is that barrel? What load are you running?
Sad to hear it can't handle a 22-250.

Has anyone had it fail with .223 Remington / 5.56 NATO in a bolt action?
No, not reported here at least, 99% certainty. I've been following pretty close and a 22-250 is the smallest so far. 1% I could have missed something.

Anyone noticed any discoloration in there before it blew. I haven’t used any magnums but have shot probably 400 25cm, nearly 1k 223, and 100 22cm thru it. IMG_1438.jpeg

So pissed I bought a Scythe TI last winter. I consoled myself that most of these kabooms are on short-barreled magnums or PRCs, but am seeing kabooms on 22 creeds, 308s etc. Mine will stay on 223, 308 and 6.5CMs but no one else (ie kids and wife) will shoot this can and I’ll never buy another SiCo product.

Better buy a Reaper. What the Scythe wishes it was. I’ll make ya a deal… 👊🏻

That’s what I call “Hunting over bait”… I like it! I will shoot you a DM in a month after the holiday dust settles..
Haha I have a Scythe too and just don’t trust it and am mad I spent over $1000 on it. So I have no problem getting you into a better suppressor and saving you a few bucks on something you can trust. Send me a blank pm now if you’d like and I’ll reply so my info is saved.

Thank you!

Mine hasn’t broke yet, but it is starting to change colors. Only shot 6cm and .223 through it…somewhere around 700 rounds or so…

That could be from the carbonized felt? Mine did the same after about a 15 round session with the LS wild cover. It doesn’t bother me so I haven’t tried to clean it off with anything besides my hand.

Might be right! I never noticed it until I slipped the LS Wild cover off recently.

Mine isn’t covered by felt tho. The discoloration is obvious in both.

Come January yall that are mad about the Scythe blowups should be able to market them a bit easier and get something else you're interested in. Free transfers and especially once the speeds pick back up should really help with the used suppressor market. Does anybody know for sure if SiCo warranty is transferable to a buyer?
