Am I misreading or does that not list the scythe as being part of the lawsuit? I just see the hybrid 46, harvester, and omega.

Yep, I read the same. It looked like they are performing an investigation, so I would assume the scope of the class action lawsuit isn't fully defined and hasn't been filed.

I would think they'd be happy to include any model from SilencerCo with a high failure rate, but I didn't enter my information on their website.

I’m personally glad someone is doing something. Although as previously said I’m not a fan of lawsuits…..this one is worthy IMO.

Totally agreed. I am not a fan of ambulance chasers, but I’m also not a fan of a company refusing to take accountability for releasing a poorly vetted product capable of harming the buyers to protect their bottom line and shareholders.

It’s not too late for SilencerCo to come back from this but they need to take accountability and offer a resolution for scythe owners.

Gunwerks had a similar issue on their Ti suppressors, issued a recall, coordinated a repair/replacement plan with the ATF, and made right by their customers.

The cost of a recall or their risk of someone having a serious injury from a scythe blowing apart aren’t going down as they continue to make and sell more of them with the same problem.

I’m sure there are some executives and legal folks at SiCo weighing the risks and probability between the costs of a recall vs a liability lawsuit.

SiCo did $111M in revenue last year. A $5-10M recall would be a very painful learning experience for them but wouldn’t bankrupt them.

But alas, mine went kaboom today.

It's had 500 or so rounds of 223rem/5.56 through it (16 inch barrel), and 50 or so 22 creedmoor (18 inch barrel). All factory ammo.

All bolt action, never more than 3 rounds at a time before it has a chance to cool.

Today was 22 creedmoor, and it went on the 7th round after about 30 minutes since the 6th shot.

No baffle strike.

Serial number just above 2500

This looks further down the baffle stack than other failures. Interesting

I never noticed where the other failures happened on here until you mentioned this. Mine broke further down the can as well

I just mailed mine back today and was planning to only use it on my 22 creed going forward when I got it back. This sucks .

Dang, I gave up trying to get mine to pop with hundreds of 22-250 and 22 Creedmoor and moved them to 223's.

We're getting down to the nitty gritty.

Yes a few in this thread, maybe just 1 or 2. You’d have to go dig through and see if it was different welds.

This may be even more concerning than those that failed on 308 or 6.5Creed. It seems to just keep getting worse. Makes me wonder if this thing would even be safe on a 223…

Put 7-8 different make/models of cans through a stress eval today…. Guess which can was the only one to have structural failure?
