If you’ve experienced catastrophic failure of the Scythe Ti, please post the following:

1. Cartridge or cartridges used with approximate round count

2. Barrel length

3. Factory ammo, hand loads or both

4. Details of ammunition

5. Details of failure (to include failure point and pics)
Yes

1. 7 PRC, ~300 rounds
2. 22” Carbon Barrel, CA Ridgeline
3. Both factory ammo and hand loads.
4. Hornady Precision hunter 175 ELDX factory ammo. Hand loads with 175 gr ELDX and Nosler Accubond LR (H1000, RL25 and 4831SC). Powder ladders and stop at any sign of pressure. let cool down every 3-5 rounds.
5. Failed on standard session (~15 rounds, 3-4 shots each group). Found 1/2 of Scythe about 50 yards down range after failure.
6. Replaced by SilencerCo within 10 days.

The reports of failures really started pushing me away from the Scythe to the OCL Helium stuff... but idk, the Scythe still checks all my boxes and if SiCo is providing good CS and replacing them quickly... maybe it's worth the risk. Still wish they'd make a statement, either identifying the cause or how they've rectified it. I will be chopping my 7RM in 2025 and planned to run a Scythe... still might.

I'm going to head to my local Scheels tomorrow - I have plenty of gift cards burning a hole in my pocket. If the Scythe Ti is available, I'll grab it. Otherwise, it may be a TBAC Ultra 7 instead.

The failures definitely have made me pump the brakes on the purchase over the past few weeks, but like mentioned above, it sounds like the CS has been great.

I doubt my 6 ARC would be an issue, but my 6.5 PRC or 7 SAUM could.

I’ve decided to shoot mine strictly on my 18” and 21” 6.5 creedmoor rifles, I’ll use my banish, LTI, and ultra 7 for my 30-06 and 308 stuff just to be safe.

Not a Scythe, but I had a Harvester do the same thing to me this spring. I have a scythe too so it’s a little scary seeing the same failure. BTW my Harvester was not with the recall serial range.
