Sighting in new fast Eddie xl

I got he new fast Eddie xl and I’m kind of confused with the set up for finding out the right sight tape. So you sight in the twenty, than move back to sixty yards. From there you sight in at 60 using the twenty yard pin by moving the movable knob? Than when you have sighted in with the 20 at sixty yards you see what tape you want and put it on. Is this right? I’d like the sixty yard pin to be my mover pin so will that still work when your sighting in with the twenty at sixty?. Thanks guys for the help, this whole thing is confusing me pretty good.

You sight in all 5 pins like a normal sight. Then move the dial for distances beyond 60 yards only shooting your bottom pin. But be sure to already have pointer on the 60 yard mark. So 60 yard mark will be your “zero.” Most people will make there on marks on tape rather than using provided tapes. I use archers advantage online to print tapes and chrono speed to get general idea of what tape to start on.

To pick a pre printed tape you can measure distance between your 20 yard and 60 yard pin and then find tape that matches best. Verify distances beyond as you get comfortable and you might find yourself choosing a different tape but that’s another story down the road if your first tape doesn’t work...

Then when you move the sight back up to where you sighted in at twenty with the twenty the arrow and twenty on the tape should line up? Does that make sense?

I shoot a single pin myself and rarely ever find a tape that corrects across the whole range, say 20-100 yards. the closest tapes after shooting in my 20 and sixty marks either match 20-60 on the Spott Hogg tapes or 60-100. Never are 20-100 the tapes correct once installed.
For you I would shoot in year 5 pins frist.
Then install pices of tape (I use printer shipping labels cut down) on your in place of a tape. Make the mark at 50 with a pen on temporary tape. Now shoot in your 80-100 (depending on how well your group) by adjusting sight wheel. Once you think you have a solid group at 80+ mark it on tape.
Now pull your temporary tape off your site and find what tape matches you your 50 and 80+ yards marks best for the yardage on your Spot Hogg sight tapes. Cut this tape at 50 and match the new tape's 50 your pointer on site. This will get you very close at all yardage

I think you will get a more accurate sight tape at 30 and something over 60 if you can group well enough to get a good mark. A link to an article on building sight tapes.

When you find the correct tape do u move the sight back to the original spot where you sighted in at twenty than put the tape on with the arrow pointing at the sixty yard mark? Or do I put it back to twenty and put the tape on with the arrow pointing at twenty to? I think it’s the first one but for some reason I just can’t convince myself that’s the correct way.

I would set the site back at its base mark.Meaning your fixed pins are hitting at 20,30,40,50,60 and where your pointer is at this location match the 60 yard mark on the tape to the pointer. I cut the 20-58 yardish part of that tape off as it is of no use to you.You only need the 60 + part of the tape.
If you need to make a minor adjustments once the tape is on the pointer is adustible.

When you are working on your tape, don't worry about anything other than your 60 yard pin. Put a blank tape on your sight so you can mark on it. Sight in your 60 and mark your tape accordingly. Move your dial up and use your 60 yard pin to sight in at 30, mark that on your tape again. Then dial your sight down and sight in at 80 and mark your tape again. Move our sight back to the 60 yard mark as that is that pins home position. Pull that tape off and find a tape that corresponds to the marks you made on it at 30, 60 and 80. If you get one that is perfect, great, but it is rare to get a pre made tape to be perfect. Then without moving your dial, put that tape on your sight and move only the pointer so it is indicating 60 as that is your starting poisition. Your tape is done at this point.

Without moving your dial, set your other five pins to 50, 40, 30 and 20. Once those are set you are done. I also wouldn't cut off the portion of the tape under 60 yards. If something happened and you broke some pins or the fiber optics were damaged, you could always use just your 60 and move it were needed to shoot any distance.
