Sighting In Advice

mxgsfmdpx gave you some nuggets on the mechanics.
A bulls bag up front and a rabbit ear rear works best for hunting weight Sporters. Test whether your bags are set up correctly by sliding the rifle back and forth while watching through the scope. If you have it right the vertical will move straight up and down through the center of the target. The horizontal will be level all the while. If it varies sideways or twists, then your shots will be thrown off in recoil.

You want opposing forces directly between the trigger finger and the shoulder and in line with the target. That's it.

Learn all this with a 22. It'll make the centerfire make more sense because you can sense what is happening. Centerfires have more going on due to more recoil, making it all harder to figure.

I’ve heard those sleds can be hard on a scope because it takes all the recoil, rather than your shoulder absorbing a lot of it

Regardless of your chosen style to zero it should give you the same results.. be it proan off a bi pod with rear bag or sitting off a bag front and rear.. i dont have a change in impact with either with any cartridge i shoot….Something else you may consider is a good shooting mat to take along. I dig the roll up tab gear mat for simplicity and keeps well. https://www.tabgear.com/collections/shooting-mats
