So my bow tuning game is weak. Next to no experience and only basic tools.

I had to reinstall my axcel accutouch sight and it needs to have the 3 axis realigned. I wa sthinking about trying myself but I am struggling with the idea of buying the gear. Seems like I would need

- bow vice = $150-250
- levels = $60

I don’t plan to be a bow mechanic but would like to know more about it and am willing to try.

Is it worth it or should I just take this to the shop?

Here's a method for aligning your axis' of your sight. This won't be as exact as using a bow vice but will be close.

Unbolt your sight from your bow.
Find a wall corner in your house that is level to the world.
Place the sight onto the wall where it mounts on your bow. The wall provides you with a square mounting plane for rotating the sight.
Set the 1st and 2nd axis until bubble is level.
Tilt sight 45 degrees roughly to ground. Like you were shooting out of a tree stand.
Set 3rd axis until bubble is level.
Basically you should be able to rotate sight on wall and bubble should always stay level.

Hope this makes sense. Give it a try. Can't really screw it up. I think after you get into trying this method it will make more sense.

You don't have to buy all the nice specific tools to level your sight although they make it faster and easier and possibly right on the first try without having to make some minor adjustments. If you have a 4 foot level already and some kind of small level you can use to level a few areas on your sight you should be able to do this with what you have. There are a few methods you can use. One is to find a level door jam with a flat spot and lay your limb pockets against the door jam then level your first and second sight axis. Then hang a string with a weight on the bottom to act like a plumb bob. Now draw your bow and hold your pins perfectly on top of the string and bend at the waist aiming down or up until your pins are just above the floor or below the ceiling. At that point with your pins on the string observe your bubble. If it is still level you are good to go, if not adjust the 3rd axis toward or away from you and repeat after you check 2nd axis again.

The other way would be to get a bolt 5/16" fine thread or just use your stabilizer and clamp that to a table, bench or something else or mount it in a vice to hold your bow level vertically and horizontally. Then repeat above to set first and second then use the same method to repeat 3rd.

3rd axis absolutely has to be confirmed at full draw because almost every bow out there will twist the riser to some degree which is essentially what your 3rd axis is trying to level itself for to make sure the pins are parallel to you and the target along with the bubble.
